GoT (SPOILERS!!!) would Bitcoin have saved the day?
WARNING: SPOILERS
Let's be real, war is expensive. Without the ability to raise huge amounts of money through taxes, large-scale warfare becomes a lot more difficult. The amount of destruction caused by the wars in GoT required huge resources, and presumably the resources of all the people were leveraged through taxes to make this happen. What if they had Bitcoin? Would this scale of warfare have been possible if the money were protected?
We're not sure this is a serious question, but we certainly discussed it in our GoT recap of the penultimate episode. At our GoT Blockchain Week celebration we had Crypto Brekkie, BitBoy, Crypto Euclid, Mystical Oaks, Will Pangman, Tone Vays, Chelsea Palmer, Young Dumb Crypto and more, and then we discussed the episode afterwards and all the implications that crypto might have for Westeros!

EOS Rex: How it can help you earn money
How can you earn passive income on your EOS while it stays staked in your wallet?
The REX (Resource Exchange) just launched on the EOS blockchain, which is a decentralized, smart contract marketplace that allows you to earn interest on your EOS by lending your unused resources to others in the form of CPU and NET ("bandwidth"). Ashe Oro, cofounder of freedomproxy.org, chats with me about what this means for EOS users!

Too big to fail? What would a bitcoin reorg mean?
Too big to fail? @cz_binance mentioned a Bitcoin blockchain reorg yesterday, in response to a suggestion made by @JeremyRubin. It caused uproar in the crypto community, and he's since taken the suggestion back. @Zaphoid and I chat live about what "Too big to fail" would mean for bitcoin, it's origins in the financial crisis of '08, and the Ethereum DAO bailout.

EOS just burned 35 million tokens!
Moments ago EOS burned 35 million EOS tokens, valued at over $170mil USD.
They are reducing inflation by 80%, which is a dramatic move. Ashe Oro, cofounder of freedomproxy.org, talks with me about what this means for the EOS ecosystem.

Binance hacked! 7000 BTC Stolen
Just announced, Binance was hacked today, 7000 BTC stolen, which is around $40 mil.
Earlier today CZ tweeted:
"Have to perform some unscheduled server maintenance that will impact deposits and withdrawals for a couple hours. No need to FUD. Funds are #safu."
Then 5 hours later this security breach update was released:
https://binance.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028031711-Binance-Security-Breach-Update
"We have discovered a large scale security breach today, May 7, 2019 at 17:15:24. Hackers were able to obtain a large number of user API keys, 2FA codes, and potentially other info. ...
The hackers were able to withdraw 7000 BTC ...
The above transaction is the only affected transaction. It impacted our BTC hot wallet only (which contained about 2% of our total BTC holdings). All of our other wallets are secure and unharmed."
Binance will cover these funds with their "SAFU fund" that was set up last year as a security measure for emergency situations like this.
Withdrawals and deposits will be frozen for 1 week, but trading will continue.
As a show of support, Justin Sun has offered 7000BTC in USDT to cover Binance if needed, but it seems like the SAFU fund has things in hand.
Will update you with more details as they become available!

Former Crypto Skeptic Uses BCH for the First Time!
Today I took my friend Tyler to the Bitcoin Banke (not to be confused with a regular bank, this one is much better) in New Hampshire, and the lovely people there gave him his first BCH! I took him to a patisserie where he made his first purchase, and he was blown away. Suffice to say, Tyler is a convert, and no longer a crypto skeptic :)
Thanks Anypay.global for the crypto and the awesome afternoon!

The Secret to Crypto Recruitment
Teaching people about Bitcoin can be really difficult, as the founders of the University of Louisville Blockchain Club have found. I visited their campus in Kentucky and we discussed how many students there are hesitant to get involved with Bitcoin, and why. But they discovered a pretty great marketing tactic that has helped them reach out to more people.

Bitcoin Critique Dice: Play the game!
Nic Carter, a Bitcoin historian and partner at Castle Island Ventures, chatted with us at the MIT Bitcoin Expo recently. In an effort to make fun of the trite criticism of Bitcoin made by most pundits and mainstream journalists, he made a 12-sided die where each side represents one of these popular criticisms. BSV delisted from Binance and Shapeshift
3 hours ago Binance announced that it would delist BSV
https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026666152-Binance-Will-Delist-BCHSV
Soon afterwards, Shapeshift announced that they would follow suit and delist bsv within 48 hours
https://twitter.com/ErikVoorhees/status/1117842010793099265
The threat of delisting has been simmering for a few days, after CZ tweeted this 3 days ago:
https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1116563034476957699
"Craig Wright is not Satoshi.
Anymore of this sh!t, we delist!"
It was in response to the bounty placed in Hodlonaut's head encouraging people to dox the account. There have also been many lawsuits coming from Craig Wright that many in the community disagreed with, and the response seems to be a mass movement of people coming together to ostracize bsv.
As Erik Voorhees said,
"Ironically both the real Satoshi and the fake Satoshi have brought us together"
There is speculation that Kraken will also delist BSV, and we will keep you posted with any news on that.

Julian Assange Dragged out of Embassy: What Freedom of Press?
This morning Julian Assange was dragged out of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and arrested in relation to a US extradition request for "conspiracy with Chelsea Manning".
The allegation is that Assange tried and failed to help crack a password, and this is an allegation for which the Obama administration tried to find evidence for many years, without success.
Snowden remarked "The weakness of the US charge against Assange is shocking", and previously Obama's DOJ refused to charge the same count, saying it endangered journalism.
The DOJ has justified the prosecution of Assange by saying that his request for "more information" from Manning was criminal. That is what journalism is: asking for information from your sources. This is literally the criminalization of journalism.
The only news outlet that captured Assange being dragged out of the embassy this morning was Ruptly, a subsidiary of RT. It is "inconvenient" that all other outlets left 2 days ago, and also "inconvenient" that Ruptly could not post the video live, because apparently their transmission line to their van was inexplicably cut.
As Snowden says:
"Images of Ecuador's ambassador inviting the UK's secret police into the embassy to drag a publisher of--like it or not--award-winning journalism out of the building are going to end up in the history books. Assange's critics may cheer, but this is a dark moment for press freedom."
Indeed, today is a dark day for freedom of the press.
