Limited Entry Turkey starts next weekend, and I wasn't able to get any scouting done until this weekend. On one day, I took my daughter with me, on the next day, I went solo like I usually do. We didn't find any turkey's, but I have my hunch's on where I might find them, and it's going to involve a lot of hiking. This hunting year is going to be super busy. For me, LE turkey, pretty sure I'll draw a muzzy deer tag, and my usual multiseason elk tag. On top of that, my wife got her hunting license and will be hunting general season turkey, with a very good chance of drawing a deer rifle tag. On those hunts, I will be playing the role of "hunting guide". Successful or not, one thing is for sure, THIS year, will be a long year on the mountain. Installing the following on a CVA Accura MR-X: - Williams Western Precision Globe Sight Part. ( No 618190 ) - Williams Fool Proof FP Micrometer Rear Sight CVA Accura. ( No 619545 ) I went with the fiber optic front sight due to aging eyes, and the rear sight because it has a greater range of elevation adjustments than other peeps that Williams offers. I've had issues with maxing out the elevation adjustment with a 100 yard zero with those sights in the past, so this micrometer sight seemed to be the thing to get. This hunt from 5 years ago, was 8 days on the mountain, and a series of firsts: First deer hunt, first muzzleloader hunt, first time I used my phone to film, first time I showed my face on video. It was, as most hunts are, educational. Some hard lessons learned on this one. Unfortunately I didn't have much of a sense of what and how to film back then, so my camera work was absolute crap. Zeroing new muzzy for a 100 yard zero with 300 grain projectiles, and 100 grain by volume black powder substitute. This is actually my 2nd trip out with this muzzy, and today I couldn't have picked a worse day as wind conditions go. Averaging 10MPH, spiking up to 17ish. I think my end zero can use some more work, but it's the best I was going to get given the wind conditions. I won't make any comments on how accurate this muzzleloader is, however the two days I shot it in the field, of my usual three shot strings, I would often enough land two within 1.5 MOA of each other with one flyer. Last year I got a Ka-Bar Becker BK18 because I think it can fill a duel role as a field knife, and as a hunting and skinning knife. Primarily due to the shape of the blade.
