The Same Drugs: Jake Shields tells us what he really thinks
Jake Shields is a longtime champion MMA fighter who recently spoke out against males competing against females in the sport, after Alana McLaughlin (who identifies as a transwoman) beat Celine Provost, using a choke hold. On Instagram, he wrote, "Over the weekend another trans 'woman' fought and beat up a real girl. This is pervasive and wrong that we sit back and pretend this is okay. We all know it’s wrong for a man to hit a women but out of political correctness we are now allowing it." Jake faced a wave of hate and backlash over his criticisms. I spoke with him on Tuesday this week about MMA, the debate over transwomen competing against females, "woke" culture, the Covid response, San Francisco, and more.
(Apologies for the janky wifi connection on my end! The wifi in my town in Mexico can be unpredictable and unstable sometimes, unfortunately! It only affects my picture, not the audio or Jake's video, so not the end of the world. Driving me insane nonetheless! Forgive me.)

The Same Drugs: Karin Litzcke on why the PPC could be the alternative Canadians are looking for
Karin Litzcke is the Vancouver East candidate for the People's Party of Canada —an alternative to the traditional three parties dominating Canadian politics. As many have become disheartened and alienated by an increasingly authoritarian and simultaneously cowardly left, feel disturbed by the ruling Liberal party's response to Covid and disregard for women's sex-based rights, and yet still don't feel their politics and priorities are adequately represented by the Conservative party, they are seeking an alternative to vote for in the upcoming federal election —a party they don't have to settle for, but that actually represents their interests and that stands up for civil rights and freedoms. The People's Party of Canada may be one such alternative.
I spoke with Karen about the recently instilled "vaccine passports," Justin Trudeau's decision to call an early election, the Liberal party's approach to Covid, why so many are leaving the left, and what the People's Party of Canada could offer Canadians.

Are men able to compartmentalize more easily than women?
In my ideal world, the sex trade wouldn't exist. But this is not my ideal world, and men do consume pornography and go to strip clubs. Is this because they are able to shut off parts of themselves, to "love" women on one hand, and on the other, consume porn and go to strip clubs and objectify the women there? Or is it as simple as, "men want to see naked women"?

The Same Drugs: Jeanna Hoch is a stripper who found radical feminism
Jeanna Hoch is a cannabis activist, the owner of Canna Mama Clinic, a feminist, and has worked in strip clubs for about 20 years. She encountered controversy in her cannabis work, then again when she began speaking out about gender identity ideology, finding radical feminism in the process. Unfortunately, she wasn't received well by some radical feminists online, who felt her work and views on her job at a strip club were in conflict with their goals of female liberation.
I spoke with her about her views on the sex industry, her experiences working in strip clubs, how she feels about men who frequent strip clubs, and how she has been received by radical feminists.

The Same Drugs: Trans activists want to force BC courts to adopt "preferred pronouns"
In December, the Chief Justice of the B.C. Supreme Court and B.C. Provincial Court issued a practice directive advising lawyers and the public that all parties appearing in court would be asked to specify what pronouns they use. The BC bar was not asked for input, rather, this was a decision pushed for by a group of activists belonging to the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee (SOGIC) section of the Canadian Bar Association, B.C. Branch. Essentially, gender ideology was being adopted in what is meant to be a neutral setting, not a political one —the court. How this could impact cases dealing with gender identity and parental rights is troubling, considering recent cases wherein parents opposed the transitioning of their kids.
Shahdin Farsai, an Iranian-Canadian lawyer practicing in British Columbia, spoke out, expressing concerns about compelled speech and how such a policy might impact a client’s legal interests. Her article discussing these concerns was accepted by the Advocate, a B.C.-based magazine, but subsequently pulled after SOGIC members threatened legal action as well as the magazine's funding. Canadian Lawyer then published a condensed version, which was also removed after a SOGIC mob campaign.
I spoke with Shahdin recently about her arguments and experiences attempting to stand up to trans activists in the legal industry.

The Same Drugs: Jay Cameron on Bill C-10—the Liberal's attempt to regulate Canadians' online speech
The Liberal government is currently working to pass Bill C-10, the Broadcasting Act reform bill, which aims to treat platforms like YouTube and Facebook as broadcasters, and subject "user-generated content" to Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) regulation. Until recently there had been an exclusion in the Act for social-media sites, protecting individuals from being subject to CRTC hearing, but the Liberals recently removed Section 4.1, the clause excluding user-generated content.
I spoke with Jay Cameron, Litigation Director at the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), a non-profit law firm dedicated to the education and defence of Canadians constitutional rights, about the bill and how it will curtail free speech in Canada.

The Same Drugs: Ayaan Hirsi Ali on modern feminism and her new book, Prey
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is one of my all time heros. Born in Somalia, she was subjected to FGM (female genital mutilation) as a child, then forced marriage, at which point she fled to Holland and sought political asylum. There, she worked her way up from being a janitor to serving as an elected member of the Dutch parliament, where she campaigned to raise awareness of violence against women, honor killings and FGM. In 2004, Theo van Gogh, the director of Ayaan's short film, "Submission," about the oppression of women under Islam, was murdered by an Islamic extremist. The assassin left a death threat for Ayaan pinned to Van Gogh's chest.
Her new book, "Prey: Immigration, Islam, and the Erosion of Women’s Rights," addresses the undermining of women’s rights in Europe in the wake of mass migration. https://www.harpercollins.com/products/prey-ayaan-hirsi-ali?variant=32126595203106

The Same Drugs: CJ Hopkins on The New Normal
CJ Hopkins is an American playwright, novelist, and columnist living in Berlin. He has been critical of the response to Covid and the "New Normal" narrative from the get go, leading to some of his commentary being censored on social media. I spoke with him on Tuesday about Donald Trump, the totalitarian creep, the new normal, and why people fail to fight back.

Watch my full interview with Jonathan Kay on sexual assault, due process, and the Steven Galloway case here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEzhdxkXsJo&t=3s
In 2015, acclaimed Canadian novelist and head of the University of British Columbia's the creative writing program, Steven Galloway, was accused of sexual assault. Despite there being no evidence to support the allegations, Galloway was suspended and subsequently fired from UBC. The situation caused a dramatic rift in the CanLit community, likely irreparable. Galloway is now suing about two dozen people connected to the allegations against him. In this clip, I am speaking with Jonathan Kay — journalist, former editor-in-chief of The Walrus, former editor and columnist at The National Post, and current Canadian editor at Quillette.

The Same Drugs: Lindsay Shepherd on diversity, exclusion, and the free speech crisis on campus
I spoke with Lindsay Shepherd, who rose to fame after being reprimanded for showing an interview with Jordan Peterson in a class she was TA'ing at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2017.
Lindsay recently published a book about the ordeal, called, "Diversity and Exclusion: Confronting the Campus Free Speech Crisis."

The Same Drugs: Jodi Shaw is fighting a 'racially hostile' environment at Smith College
Jodi Shaw was a staffer at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, a divorced mother of two children, a lifelong liberal, and an alumna of the college. Last month, she resigned over allegations that the school was a "racially hostile environment." In October, after exhausting attempts to address her concerns internally, she posted a video on YouTube, saying: “I ask that Smith College stop reducing my personhood to a racial category. Stop telling me what I must think and feel about myself. Stop presuming to know who I am or what my culture is based upon my skin color. Stop asking me to project stereotypes and assumptions onto others based on their skin color.”
I spoke with Jodi recently about her complaints, her experiences at Smith, and why she spoke out.
TRIGGER WARNING: I didn't have time to dry my hair before this interview and almost didn't post it because my hair looks so bad, but it's a good interview so I'll take the hit. Forgive me.
