Water Loving Maddie the Great Dane was thrilled to discover that after Hurricane Idalia's rainfall near Tampa, that the putting green was becoming a second pool! Watch & enjoy as Maddie enjoys splashing in the rain in the two backyard pools that thankfully did not become one large pool. We are so fortunate that our family & friends were spared the devastation & destruction caused by Idalia along the west coast of Florida. Our hearts go out to those affecting by the horrific flooding, from the storm surge & high tides & rain from the Hurricane. So many properties & streets with 15 miles of our home have been flooded & are still waiting for the water to recede.

Maddie the Great Dane usually doesn't mind the rain & wind, but the torrential rains from the last outer bands of Hurricane Idalia had Maddie opting to stay dry as she watched the storm. Watch & enjoy as Maddie checks out the last bands of rain & wind that passed by about 9 hours after the eye of the storm passed us about 2am, thankfully 100 miles west of the coast. Maddie & Mom discover a very minorcasualty of the storm, one of the upper screen panels didn't survive the 50 - 60 mph wind gusts & has created a very interesting future access point for Mr Squirrel. We were incredibly fortunate and our hearts ache for all those who were directly affected by Hurricane Idalia & who are still now being flooded by the storm surge in Florida.

Maddie & Ellie the Great Danes are very good Weather Watch Dogs. Watch & enjoy as Maddie & Ellie check out the sights & scents of the early bands of wind from the Hurricane. While Maddie checks out the yards, Ellie is more than happy to stay under cover as a dry Weather Watcher.

Maddie the Great Dane enjoys helping Mom & Dad prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Idalia near Tampa Florida. Watch & enjoy as Maddie enjoys a swim with Mom & Dad as they cool off from moving patio furniture & get ready to add more salt to the pool to keep it clean during the storm. Thankfully we have had two days notice to start relocating potential projectiles & were able to move all the patio furniture that could go flying under the covered area of the lanai with 6 hours to spare before we will start feeling the initial winds & rain from Hurricane Idalia this afternoon. Idalia will be passing by Tampa as a Category 2 with winds of 120 mph / 193 kph at approximately 2 am tomorrow morning. Landfall is currently forecast to be 100 miles / 160 km north of Tampa. Our thoughts are with our fellow Floridians who are in Idalia's path & at risk of the 7 - 12 feet of storm surge flooding.

Maddie the Great Dane loves to chill out on the lounger by the pool after a swim. Watch & enjoy as Maddie relaxes in her shades & hat & then without her shades & hat. Our weather is still sunny as we await incoming Hurricane Idalia. We are northwest of Tampa, about 75 miles south from the predicted landfall in Cedar Key on Wednesday morning. This is the calm before the storm.

Jack the Cat takes his Gift Box Guard Cat duties very seriously. Excited Jack the Cat and Maddie and Ellie the Great Danes know when they see the beautifully decorated boxes from Fairy Godmother Michelle, that there are lots of treats & toys in the boxes. Watch & laugh as Jack & the girls have fun opening the gift boxes themselves & checking out the wonderful treats & toys. Maddie & Ellie are working on their treat toss techniques. Maddie begins with some double drool anticipation & executes a perfect catch, complete with flying slobber. Ellie isn't quite as coordinated or slobbery & takes a bounce on her nose, but gets an A for effort. Good Girls!

Maddie the Great Dane's style & technique for diving into the pool would earn her a perfect score with judges with her beautiful paw position as she leaps into the deep end. Watch & laugh as Maddie is ready to go at "ready" & executes a beautiful dive into the deep end with her paws in a perfect Superman pose. By "set" & "go" Maddie is ready to catch Blue Piggy & then carries him out of the pool & takes him for a run!

Maddie & Ellie enjoy when their buddy Boone comes over to visit & keep everyone safe from the pesky little lizards. Watch & laugh as the girls enjoy playtime with Boone, but can't derail Boone's one track mind from the Great Lizard Patrol. Boone's German Shorthaired Pointer Tail is a very accurate Lizard Meter of the location of the little geckos.

Water Loving Maddie the Great Dane is usually all in for anything that involves water. Watch & laugh as Maddie reluctantly decides to check out the beautiful sun shower with Mom, but after a few steps outside, decides to hightail it back inside with Ellie & let Mom get wet on her own.

Maddie the Great Dane takes the throw in throw pillows literally. Watch & laugh as Maddie-locks tosses the throw pillows off the chair to find the spot that is just right for her afternoon nap.

Ellie the Great Dane is a great teacher to 4 month old baby Mikey. Watch & laugh as Ellie teaches Mikey the fine art of package selection & how to carry & open an Amazon box. Mikey is a very attentive cardboard chewing student.

Like all Floridians who are over the oppressively hot summer temperatures, Maddie & Ellie the Great Danes are happy that rain has arrived to help beat the heat. Watch & laugh as Maddie comes in from the rain to join Ellie who doesn't ever go out in the rain, as they wonder why Mom is standing out in the rain. Maddie who usually loves to drink the rain drops decided she wasn't in the mood to stand out in the rain, leaving Mom getting soaked while she filmed the smart dry girls.

Maddie the Great Dane is usually a very polite & patient girl about sitting at the table. Watch & laugh as Maddie decides that she can still be polite & patient, while she is standing on the table, waiting for a pasta snack from Mom. Ellie decides to hold out for a taste of chicken, while Maddie does a little drooling in anticipation of her tasters. No pasta or chicken or salad was drooled upon in the making of this video.

Maddie the Great Dane loves the rain. Floridians love rain as it broke the oppressive heat. Watch & enjoy as Maddie makes herself comfy on the loveseat while she & Mom enjoy watching the afternoon rain which brought the beastly temperature down so they could sit outside together. Yippee!!!

Maddie the Great Dane is usually quite a raring to go girl at all times. But sometimes even Maddie hits the Mom Snooze Button. Watch & laugh as Maddie gives it a moment of thought & then decides she is not quite awake yet. It has been a busy few weeks for everyone taking care of Mom, who after 13 days finally tested Covid negative this morning! Thank you again for all the get well wishes.

Great Danes should drink & eat from elevated bowls & Maddie has decided that she has a new method to elevate her elevation by standing up & sink drinking. Watch & laugh as Mom knows exactly what is spinning through Maddie's water loving brain as she eyes the tap in the pool bathroom, but they are both rather surprised when Maddie stands up to go Counter Surfing for running tap water. Ellie decides to check out the bathroom excitement & enjoys a drink from the shower drinking bowls, while Maddie keeps circling back to the sink. Mom calculates the risk / benefit ration of an automated tap as she watches the water fall out of the hole in Maddie's chin & heads for slobber towels.

Ellie the Great Dane is such a good big sister. Watch & enjoy as Ellie & Dad keep a close eye on Mikey (who did not have ants on him) as he discovers the wonderful world of digging & dirt.

Jack the Cat is very particular about his personal hygiene. Watch & laugh as Jack examines each strand of the blinds in the guest suite (where he is taking care of Mom as she continues to recover from Florida Summer Eris Covid) to find the perfect strand to floss his whiskers & teeth.
