4 Blocks that Keep Perfectionists from Healing
The mindset of perfectionism drives a message of "just right" but "never enough" that seeks to infiltrate how we think, believe, act and process relationships. Yet in the healing process, I have found there are four blocks that often get in the way of healing the perfectionist's heart. I have observed them in my own life and the lives of those I have helped.

7 Things We Need to Let Go Of
There are things we need to embrace as we learn and walk our healing and freedom journey, but there are also things we need to learn to let go of, they get in the way of fruitful healing and growth. Each of us has to learn how to let go of things in our life that we are not meant to carry.
In the book of Galatians, the Apostle Paul is talking about the subject of bearing burdens, he instructs that “each one shall bear his own load.” loads meaning (freight, luggage).
The book of Hebrews reminds us to “lay aside every weight.”
Jesus referred to it as yokes.
You and I have “yokes” or “luggage” that we are to carry, but they are not meant to weigh us down and burn us out. They become what God pours His grace into, where we gain energy and empowerment to focus on what is important for our journey and those you get to make a difference with.
But as we go through life, there can be a tendency for luggage to accumulate. Our yoke becomes heavy. Our journey becomes weighed down. Weariness sets in. So many believers are living a “weighed down” life, where they are carrying things they actually do not need to carry. But somehow they think they are supposed to just keep doing the same thing. They don’t consider that they may need to actually LET GO of the extra luggage and burdensome yokes they’ve been shouldering.
It took a while for me to realize that there were things I was carrying that I actually did not need to carry, I was not called to carry and I could make a decision to let them go.
Learning to let go will help us to make way for the new and for what is healthy. As vessels of God, there is only so much you and I are meant to carry. Many times holding on to what we need to let go of keeps us from welcoming the new.
Today, Jesus is in the work of helping you and I to exchange yokes. Today I want to talk about seven yokes or pieces of luggage that you can learn to let go of. Today would be a great day to begin changing yokes so we can walk in greater clarity for our journey.

Learning to Say NO
If you want to make room to invest in what matters most in your life, you will have to learn to say NO. In fact, healthy people have learned to say NO and say it a lot.
Practicing saying NO helps you get clear on what your YES is. But in order to experience this, we have to deal with some issues in our lives that keep us from saying a healthy NO.

Religious OCD: The Guilt and Confession Cycle
One of the common patterns for Christians with OCD, is the compulsion of excessive confession of something that disturbs your spirituality. There can be a nagging sense that something is not right in your stance with God or there is some specific issue that needs to be dealt with and remedied.
Confession to God, repentance and sharing with others is a powerful experience.
But for "OCDers," this whole subject becomes distorted. They fall into a cycle where they are repenting for things they do not need to repent of. They confess things they do not need to confess. The confession can be to God, but it can often move into confession to another person–a religious leader, a spouse or friend.
It becomes a chronic pattern of feeling disturbed in such a way that you cannot move on unless you confess the issue. But you begin to see that this pattern is getting in the way of your life, you observe that something about this isn’t right and most of all, it's not bearing fruit. You are becoming more bound that you are being free.

5 Forms of Biblical Meditation You Can Practice
As I encourage, equip and empower the mental health of my brothers and sisters, the first thing I emphasize is the power of slowing down. Within the context of slowing down, I have personally learned to appreciate the God given practice of meditation as a habit that can recalibrate my heart and mind into the peace and love of God, while learning to strengthen my mental health.
For many Christians, the thought of meditation gives them anxiety and confusion. They associate the word with new age practices or forbidden origins. So therefore, we lose sight of what we have been given, because we spend our time avoiding the counterfeit and not practicing what was designed for our benefit.
But let’s get really honest with ourselves. The truth is, I think we actually resist the practice of meditation because it actually calls us to slow down, quiet ourselves and actually work through the issues of our heart that we often avoid or feel ill equipped to work through. The truth is, we can’t sit still. We struggle to get quiet. It's challenging. For some, it's downright scary.
Meditation can be uncomfortable to many because it calls us to a deeper, more authentic life of the heart with God that involves facing our struggles and facing ourselves in a new way. It involves becoming more aware of your emotions and what is happening in the life of your heart, whereas many don’t even know what is going on in the life of their heart.
We may not realize that meditation is something the Bible talks about and is a blessed experience that God created. It was designed by God for our benefit, to help us strengthen, recalibrate and renew our mind and emotions.
Today, instead of focusing on all the concerns, debates or arguments Christians may have with meditation, I want to share with you 5 forms of meditation that you can practice as a believer that can benefit your spiritual and emotional life.

Love Hangs in There
Love brings the power to endure, the ability to hang in there and remain in the journey. When I first began to seek deeper heart healing and freedom in my life, I realized very soon that I did not know how to experience God’s love.
I not only needed healing in my heart with the love of God, I also needed to mature in the power of what love really brings to our lives and relationships.
One of the signs of love maturing is that we learn how to endure with the journey we are on. I realized that my spiritual and emotional muscles needed to be exercise to develop greater endurance, the ability to hang in there for the long haul.
Today I want to emphasize God's enduring love towards you, the importance of practice that towards yourself and your journey, while letting it have an impact in how you love others.

12 Ways SLOWING DOWN Has Improved My Mental Health
My first recommendation for those who want to experience greater mental and emotional health is to SLOW DOWN. This can be much easier said than done, as the world lives at such a high rate of speed. We feel that pull every day.
But what I want to do is share with you some observations on what slowing down has done to my life and journey. As a man who was headed for fast paced, performance and perfectionistic living, slowing down gave me the room in my heart to heal, learn and grow in freedom. It has helped my mental health so much, I embrace the slow as a lifestyle, any way I can.
Today I want to share with you how slowing down has empowered my mental health. I pray you will join me in the journey of SLOW.

Sharing our Personal Struggles - Part 3
We continue our series on sharing some of the struggle we are navigating through by focusing in on the family dynamics that arise as you seek to navigate your healing journey. When we step into healing, all of us have to come to terms with what it means to "leave father and mother" and heal from patterns we inherited from our family and our upbringing. This brings up all sorts of family ties and issues of codependency that are important to discern in the healing process. As Melissa shares her story of healing and overcoming, I pray that our discussion will add love and grace to your own journey.

Where Do I Start in My Heart Healing Journey?
If I was to look back at the early stages of my healing journey and the lives of those I have seen pursue a heart healing path in life, there is something very important that needs to be embraced along the way. It cannot be overlooked. Those who truly learn to experience greater mental, emotional and relationship healing in their have learned the importance of slowing down the pace of their life.
Slowing down is a posture of the heart, one that takes time and practice. It helps bring our minds to a much healthier rhythm, so we can receive and process what we need in healing and renewal.
But if you look around, there is so much resistance to slowing down. Everything in life is calling for your attention and calling for it now. The world is telling you to hustle and move faster.
I believe that one of the demonic forces in the world involves a constant lifestyle of busyness that is applauded, rewarded and encouraged. It is keeping people from experiencing meaningful connection with God, themselves and each other. This fast paced life is keeping families from connecting, marriages from experiencing meaningful closeness and friendships from going deeper with each other in relationships.

Do You Compulsively Overshare?
Do you find yourself sharing too much too soon too often? If so, you are not alone, as many believers admit to over talking, over sharing and even over confessing. For many, it can even become a compulsive way of relating. You feel you need to get everything out to make sure you are ok with others. You may even have mistakes, struggles and sins of the past that keep accusing you, where you it fuels an oversharing habit.
Today I want to talk through why we often compulsively overshare and how we can recalibrate how we relate.

Mental Health and Prophetic Ministry
In response to a question that was sent in, I want to address prophetic ministry from the perspective of mental and emotional health. What does it look like to relate to the ministry of prophecy or prophetic words when we are working through mental health battles like depression, OCD or anxiety?
I pray this broadcast will add edification, exhortation and comfort to your journey.

How Do You Relate to Yourself in Your Struggles?
Today I want to address a number of questions that have a common theme: how we relate ourselves in the midst of our brokenness, struggles and pain. If you are wanting to grow in your heart healing journey, what I share here the major importance of relating to yourself with greater kindness, patience and compassion.
Most of the time, we relate to ourselves with contempt, condemnation and shame. Self-hate and anger rises up. But all those harsh inner voices never lead to healing and greater freedom. It is the kindness and compassion of God that leads us into healing and freedom. But do we know how to practice that towards ourselves?
The questions I address hit a number of areas:
How to work through struggles with self-hate.
What are the root issues that contribute to self-harm?
Everyone else seems more joyful and free than I am. Why can't I get it together?
Working through low moods and bad feelings.
When shame and fear increase as you seek to move into new directions.
Does God really love me in a way that He personally directs that love to me? '
In each of these questions, I will show you how our battles bring an invitation to shift how we relate to ourselves, our thoughts and what we are going through.
