The Inflation Reduction Act does everything but reduce inflation.
I'm Peter Serefine, and this is today's Liberty Minute.
Speaker Pelosi said that the House will pass the $430 billion bill tomorrow. In a letter to her Democrat colleagues, she called the bill "life-changing legislation."
Also known as the climate, tax, Healthcare, and anything but inflation reducing bill, the relabeled Build Back Better bill will definitely be life-changing.
This bill is going to make absolutely everything you buy more expensive while drastically increasing the chances of getting audited by the IRS.
This Frankenstein's monster piece of legislation is a perfect example of why we need HR46-One Bill, One Subject Transparency Act. Healthcare, green energy, and tax law should never be in one bill together. Putting these things under the title of "Inflation Reduction" is just insulting.

Soon, the IRS will have more armed agents than the country has active duty Marines.
I'm Peter Serefine, and this is today's Liberty Minute.
The militarization of the federal government should be a red flag.
Back in 2015, the Department of Justice reported that there were 40 federal agencies with more than 100,000 officers authorized to carry guns.
So, while the federal government is making it more difficult for you to buy firearms and trying to restrict what types of firearms you're allowed to buy, they are arming themselves.
Including the Department of Education, which bought firearms as far back as 2010. I thought schools were gun-free zones. So why does the Department of Education need guns?
Ask yourself one question. When in history has a government become more militant while disarming citizens?

Drastic measures are needed.
I'm Peter Serefine, and this is today's Liberty Minute.
The current national debt is almost $31 Trillion.
Let's give that some perspective. If our government suddenly managed to pass a balanced budget AND paid $1 billion on the principle of the national debt annually, it would take over 30,000 years to pay it off.
The federal government revenue is almost $4.5 trillion. $2.5 trillion, or 55%, goes to Medicare and Social Security, leaving $2 trillion for EVERYTHING else.
The reality is that we add $1.5 trillion to the debt every year.
You don't need to be an economic genius to figure out that this spending cannot last forever. These little deficit reductions just aren't sufficient.
Massive financial accountability is needed. Literally, trillions of dollars need to be cut from the federal budget.

Kamala broke the Senate tie.
I'm Peter Serefine, and this is today's Liberty Minute.
A party-line vote on the ironically named Inflation Reduction Act caused Vice President Harris cast the deciding vote to pass the bill.
There are so many problems with this bill. First, inflation is a "right now" problem that will be made worse by record spending on clean energy.
Second, green energy is a noble cause, but all the spending in this bill will have little to no effect for years while making the immediate problem of inflation worse.
Third, the bill includes a tax overhaul aimed at making corporations pay their fair share of taxes.
News flash. Corporations will pass those taxes on to consumers, who are the only people who pay taxes, thereby making inflation worse for you and I.

Boy who cried wolf said what?
I'm Peter Serefine, and this is today's Liberty Minute.
The Biden administration has declared monkeypox a public health emergency.
Yes, five children and a pregnant woman have Monkey Pox, but 98% of cases are men who have sex with men. Only five people in the world have died from the disease.
All of that is beside my point. By declaring a public health emergency federal money, your tax money is now up for grabs, again.
We are a nation that is supposed to be 50 essentially sovereign states. The federal government declaring an emergency every time you turn on the news erodes that sovereignty.
Federal money, your tax dollars, have become nothing more than the carrot dangled in front of the states' budget committees.
Our federal government seems to think your money is nothing more than candy at a parade.

Biden really wants women to have abortions.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Last month Biden signed an executive order to protect the right of women to have abortions in life-threatening situations. That was reasonable.
Yesterday, Biden signed an executive order that lays the groundwork for Medicare to pay for travel to access abortions.
This should raise some feathers. It is against federal law for tax dollars to pay for abortion. How is paying for required to access an abortion any different?
Federal money should never go to support anything as controversial as abortion. How would the other side feel if federal tax dollars were spent on Christian Sunday school or gun safety classes?
Regardless of your stance on any of these issues, federal tax money, YOUR money, should not be spent on anything that divisive.

Too much government is the problem.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
In June, the Education Department announced an overhaul of Title IX, the federal law prohibiting “sex-based discrimination” in federally funded educational settings.
Most people are talking about the definitions of sex or gender, but I want to talk about the last part of that statement, "in federally funded educational settings."
That little bit sums up what is wrong with our entire system today. Federal tax dollars are in every aspect of our lives. Wherever federal money is spent, the federal government makes rules.
Federal money attracts waste, bureaucracy, corruption, and more regulations.
Since the creation of the federal Department of Education, the cost of education has skyrocketed, and the literacy rate has plummeted.
The education system is one example of the typical response to federal money.

Let's talk vaccine mandates, shall we?
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Doctor Birx has admitted something that many of us were shunned and censored for saying just a few months ago. The covid "vaccine" was never going to stop the transmission of the virus.
With Biden and other high-profile people getting jabbed and still getting covid then getting covid again, the stop the spread argument should be entirely off the table.
The mRNA jab may very well help keep you from getting deathly sick. If that is true, then that makes it more kin to the tetanus shot. It keeps you from getting a potentially deadly bacterial infection, but it doesn't protect anyone else at all.
When was the last time an employer required you to get a tetanus shot or be fired?

How does $49,000 relate to $7 trillion?
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
$7.1 trillion is what our federal government has authorized to spend on covid in one way or another so far.
That number goes up every time Biden announces the next "free" test, "free" pill, "free" masks, or "free" jab.
Let's stick with $7.1 trillion for now.
There were 144.3 million taxpayers last year, so let's do some math.
Total covid spending divided by the total number of taxpayers equals how much covid cost YOU.
That is $49,203.
For comparison, the average income from full-time employment last year was $63,688
Remember, every billion the government spends costs you $7, and every trillion costs you $7,000.
How long before the government demands your portion of the national debt, $243,000?

Inflation reduction spending?
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
The Inflation reduction spending package currently being suggested by Congress may be the most idiotic thing I've ever seen Congress try, and that is saying a lot.
Inflation is when money becomes worth less. Money becomes worth less when there is too much money in the market.
A spending bill, ANY spending bill that puts more money in the market, will only make Inflation even worse.
Couple that with raising taxes, and you get a complete collapse of the economy. The proposed 15% minimum corporate tax will be passed along to you and me, the consumers. It is an obvious fact that only consumers pay taxes.
So, government spending makes inflation worse, and higher taxes take even more of what is left.
It honestly looks like our government wants us too poor to survive.

Resident Biden has set another record.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
As of two days ago, 609 dead bodies have been found on the US side of our southern border this year.
The record was previously set by the Biden administration last year. In Biden’s first year in office, 566 dead bodies were found.
By comparison, before the Biden Administration, in 2020, 247 bodies were found.
The lackadaisical immigration policy of this administration is encouraging people to seek help from cartels and smugglers for the long and dangerous journey.
Where is the disgust and outrage over all of the dead brown people? How is this not a headline from every news outlet in the nation?
Kids in cages was a headline for over a year, but that is nothing compared to 1175 dead under this administration.

Security for them, but not for us.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
House lawmakers are being offered up to $10,000 to beef up their home security systems amid increasing threats of violence. They can also get up to $150 per month to pay for the system service.
To summarize, lawmakers who each earn $174,000 a year and each have a $1.3 million expense account will get more for security because of threats.
Meanwhile, out in the real world, crime rates across the country are skyrocketing.
145 law enforcement have been killed in the line of duty so far this year.
The average police salary is less than ⅓ of a member of the House.
I'd much rather see that $5 million go to protecting law enforcement so that they are around to protect me when I need them.

Apparently, the US Strategic Petroleum Reserves are for the entire world.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Over the past year, the Biden administration has released nearly half of our nation's strategic petroleum reserve, supposedly to help the gas prices in the United States.
Logic would suggest that those reserves were released to US companies to help US citizens, but, not surprisingly, that was not the case.
The American reserves were released, and at least some of it was offered in an international auction.
Records show that at least 5.9 million barrels of our strategic reserve have been sold to Uipec America, a company owned by the Chinese Communist Party.
So, while you are still paying $4.50 a gallon to gas up your car, our strategic petroleum reserve is being sold to a foreign government that hates you.

Didn't America learn anything from McCarthyism?
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
From 1950 to 1954, Senator Joseph McCarthy led congressional hearings and investigations searching for communism.
With little evidence, Senator McCarthy ruined careers with wild accusations and televised congressional hearings.
That should sound familiar. Since 2016, Representative Adam Schiff has been doing the same thing, except instead of looking for communists, he is looking for anyone who supports Trump or believes in a small limited government. Schiff's hatred of Trump and love of cameras has become a McCarthy-istic crusade.
Schiff recently went so far as to suggest an investigation into a sitting Supreme Court Justice and subpoena his wife.
That is too far. That is a direct attack on the separation of powers. Schiff has jumped the shark and is no longer doing anything but partisan grandstanding.

Is a civil war imminent?
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Over 50% of a recent survey expect a civil war in the United States in the next few years.
Lately, it is often said that our nation is more divided than ever. Those who say that don't know their own national history.
The country may be more partisan than at any point in our lifetime, but not in our country's.
Our country has seen several rebellions. We have had states considered secession both before and after the Civil War. We have had congressmen beaten on the floor of the House. We had an actual civil war that claimed the lives of over 600,000 citizens.
The history of the United States is a history of partisan divide.
I am far more worried about total financial collapse than a civil war.

Paper money will destroy America.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
In 1791 Thomas Pain blamed paper money for England's financial problems.
Paper money was partially to blame for Shay's Rebellion and US money problems between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution.
James Madison fought against paper money for his entire political career.
Paper money has caused the collapse of countries and empires worldwide for centuries, and our founding fathers knew that.
No currency without a physical backing can last forever.
No country can pile up debt and spend forever.
The Federal Reserve, bankers, and politicians all know these facts. So why then has the US been piling up trillions in debt on paper money for over a hundred years?
They are just hoping to die rich before the collapse.

Need more proof that DC is completely out of touch?
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
High gas prices may hurt everyone, but they hurt the poor most.
For those who live on a fixed income or live paycheck to paycheck, paying more for gas is more than just uncomfortable. It can mean missed meals or prescriptions don't get filled.
Yesterday Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg, said “The more pain we are all experiencing from the high price of gas, the more benefit there is for those who can access electric vehicles,”
That is absolutely no comfort to the poor. Most people can't afford to pay $10,000 more for an electric vehicle, according to Kelley Blue Book.
Once again, the agenda is more important to the DC elites than actually helping or showing compassion for the "have nots"

Paul Pelosi's stock trades are quite interesting.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Paul Pelosi made a multi-million dollar stock purchase centered around a microchip company. The purchase was disclosed by Nancy Pelosi, as required.
When questioned, Nancy's office assured us that the Speaker had nothing to do with it. That it was her husband's business.
We aren't supposed to notice that there is a bill pending that would dramatically subsidize microchip manufacturing in the United States, AND we are supposed to forget that the Speaker is solely responsible for deciding what does or does not get voted on in the House.
This is exactly how members of Congress get rich. It is called insider trading, and it is illegal, but since it was done in a spouse's name, it is supposed to be okay.
After all, the Speaker's spokesperson said so.

The Robb elementary shooting response was a failure.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
A blistering 77-page report finds multiple systemic failures in response to the school shooting that killed 19 children and two adults.
So the Texas House spent almost two months investigating and writing a 77-page report to find what anyone who has seen the videos already knew.
There were police with body Armour and rifles in the hallway three minutes after the gunman arrived.
I don't like to criticize law enforcement, but I will in this case.
I don't give a damn who was in charge. A gunman was in an elementary school! Don't wait to get permission. Don't debate who is in charge. Don't wait for backup. Neutralize the gunman!
With a badge or not, it is an adult's job to protect children.

The latest Consumer Price Index lie came out yesterday.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Yesterday's report on the Consumer Price Index shows prices up an average of 9.1%. That is the worse report since 1981, and it is actually worse.
Forget the average reported by the government who causes the inflation in the first place. Look at the thing you actually buy.
The three things everyone needs to live are groceries, gas, and utilities. Those essential items together are up 37% over last year.
Make no mistake, this is entirely the fault of our Federal Government. To paraphrase Milton Freeman, only the government causes inflation because only the government can print money.
Using the trickle-down theory, it is actually our fault. We The People keep putting the same overspending establishment crooks in office.

Counties can't be independent in the state of Independence
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
The Pennsylvania Department of State is suing three counties over the last primary election.
Pennsylvania law requires absentee and mail-in ballots be dated on the outside envelope by the voter.
The three Republican-controlled counties don't want to count the ballots that were not dated as required.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 says the government should not deny citizens the right to vote “because of an error or omission.”
We all know that Federal law trumps state law. So, why make the law in question?
In fact, how can there be any laws about mail-in voting?
Forgot the date - omission, count it anyway
Didn't mail it in time - error, still counts
It has become too much to expect people to follow rules at all.

Here is something that might actually stop mass shootings.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Every time some psychopath goes out and shoots multiple people, half of the country screams for more gun control.
I have some questions.
How is it that so many of the mass shooters have had multiple encounters with police and/or the FBI yet still get the guns to commit these horrible crimes?
Maybe we need to enforce lying on the background check paperwork. That is a felony that is rarely prosecuted.
Is there any oversight for companies and groups that are required to report to the National Instant Background Check System?
Maybe antipsychotic medication should be a disqualifying condition for gun ownership.
In short, rather than making it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to exercise their second amendment rights, how about we focus on psychopath control?

Resident Biden wants Congress to legalize abortion.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Yesterday Biden said he doesn't have the authority to reinstate Roe v. Wade but urged Congress to pass a law making abortion legal at the federal level again.
The Whitehouse staff is still investigating using a public health emergency to reinstate abortion access.
Biden also called on pro-abortion protesters to "keep protesting" and "keep making your point."
Biden did not condemn the protesting at justices' homes, which is illegal, the assassination attempt on a Supreme Court Justice, or the violent attacks against pro-life organizations.
Come to think of it, did he ever condemn the George Floyd riots?
I am all for legal and peaceful demonstrations and protests. However, vandalism, firebombs, and assassination attempts are crimes, not protests.
No matter your opinion, the first amendment only protects your right to "peaceably assemble."

Only 8% in a recent survey think the Ukraine war should be Biden’s #1 priority, while 38% said fighting inflation should be #1.
Spending $5 billion a month on a foreign war raises inflation even more.
Making it even worse, Biden stated that the US will be involved in Ukraine "as long as it takes."
35% of small business owners couldn't pay their rent in full last month. Most blame the record-breaking inflation. You know, the inflation that the Whitehouse called transitory.
