Deftones - My Own Summer Verse Riff, Main Riff, and Chorus Cover (Beginner)
Hello everyone! It has been a few months since I updated this channel, but with the first day of summer I thought I would share something I have been practicing for a bit.
Deftones have always been the band I associate the most with the summer and what a perfect opportunity it was to pick today of all days to post this.

Slipknot - People = Shit Main Riff and Chorus Guitar Cover (Beginner)
Hi everyone. Going through my archives of videos I made while learning guitar I noticed I missed a few uploads.
This is the main riff and chorus of Slipknot’s “People Equal Shit”.
I recorded this on the 20th anniversary of the their album, Iowa, last August.
I have my guitar tuned down to Drop B here (B, F#, B, E, G#, C#) even though the song is actually in Drop A. My guitar is setup for Drop C and I didn’t want to mess with the intonation too much.
I’ll be adding newer recorded videos soon.

Big Wreck - That Song Guitar Cover (Beginner)
Big Wreck has always been a favourite band and Ian Thornley is my all time favourite guitarists. To say he is an inspiration is an understatement.
After learning guitar for approximately a year, I built up the confidence to record and entire song the first time with this. There are a lot of blemishes and hesitancy, and I do skip a few parts I wasn't skilled enough to attempt at the time, but the skeleton of the song is here.
This was recorded sometime in February of 2021. My guitar is tuned to Drop D (D,A,D,G,B,E) and I played this on my little Line 6 practice amp I barely knew how to dial in properly.
I hope everyone enjoys this. I felt a real sense of accomplishment after playing it.

Silent Night - Acoustic Guitar
For Christmas this year I wanted to learn to a song to play for my wife.
I decided to dust off my old Washburn guitar, which I haven’t played in years. This was the first guitar I actually changed the strings on myself. Surprisingly it was still close to being in tune 5 years later.
Silent Night has always been my favourite piece of Christmas music and I thought it would inspire me the most.
This is a simple finger picked version of it I have been practicing for about two weeks. I learned how to play this by watching this great tutorial which I highly recommend:

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Trivium - Forsake Not The Dream Guitar Cover (Partial)
I learned to play a bit of this song to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Trivium's album "In Waves". Trivium is one of my favourite bands and they are inspirational for me to want to learn to play the guitar.
With this song I started to learn how to move around the neck combing one finger power chords, octave chords, and muting strings while strumming. I also added a bit of the lead melody in there with a bit of hesitancy because I'm still trying to get my brain and fingers coordinated. It is coming along.

Cyndi Lauper - The Goonies R Good Enough Guitar Cover
This was me having a bit of fun learning a melody that has nostalgic value to me.
I used it to start to try and learn some lead on the highest string on the guitar. Noticeable I can see my hand shaking here, which I think was a combination of being nervous to pull off the entire melody combined with a lack of strength in my hand playing that high up.

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus Main Riff Guitar Cover (1st Try)
This was my first attempt to play the main and only riff of Personal Jesus.
I used this riff to start learning how to move my fingers around fretting positions that I was unfamiliar with and bending strings for the first time. This was also a great song to use to learn how to perform a walk-down while keeping the right rhythm.
I was still using an old Line 6 Spider III amp at this point which I had not quite figured out how to dial in.

Rammstein - Sex Guitar Cover (Partial)
This was my first attempt to play the song "Sex" by Rammstein. I still remember the first time I heard this song I was so blown away by the simplicity of the riff and the swagger of this song. It's still a goal to be able to learn this all the way through.
I used it to start to learn how to bend the string I was strumming as well as to start to learn some control with my fretting hand to mute a string and let it ring out in the following strums. I can't wait to get this song nailed down a bit more.

The Beastie Boys - No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn Guitar Cover (Improvised)
This was my first attempt to play No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn. I used this song to practice the shape of power chords and to move up and down the neck of the guitar while building strength in my fretting hand and trying to commit the chord shape to muscle memory.
This is a very loose cover of this song and it's a bit improvised but for the most part it is all the parts that make up the bones of the song.

Papa Roach - Last Resort Guitar Cover (Partial)
This was my first attempt to play the opening riff, the lead guitar line intro, the first chorus and through the chorus of this song.
I used it to start to gain control of keeping the notes from ringing out, alternate picking on the lower 3 strings of the guitar, and working on the finger positioning for octave chords during the chorus.

Metallica - Master Of Puppets Opening Riff Guitar Cover (First Try)
This was my first attempt to play the opening riff to Master Of Puppets. I recorded this video in March of 2021.
While attempting to learn the basics of guitar playing and struggling hard to even make a passable attempt at Hot Crossed Buns, I would noodle around a little bit with this riff. The tempo was always a challenge. It took about a year to get it to this level.
It should be noted that this riff is obviously not entirely accurate because I had not quite been able to nail the palm muting portion of it yet.

Metallica - Enter Sandman Main Riff Guitar Cover (First Try)
This was my first attempt to play the riff to Enter Sandman. I recorded this video in March of 2021. This was such a huge milestone for me to cross once I started learning to play guitar a year earlier.
It should be noted that this riff is obviously not entirely accurate because I had not quite been able to nail the palm muting portion of it yet. But for a first try I was very happy with the results. Still a long long way to go.

Ghost - Square Hammer Guitar Cover (Partial Cover)
At 40 years old I decided to start to learn electric guitar as a means to gain a skill while the world was on pause during 2020.
I started to record myself playing parts of songs I grew up liking, or were inspirational for me to want to learn to play.
I recorded this snippet in February of 2021 while I still had a small Line 6 Spider 3 practice amp that I could barely figure out how to make sound good.
I am a big fan of Ghost and this song in particular was used to start to learn how to alternate between strings, use some power chords, and palm mute. I'm still learning how to segue into the chorus but I have come pretty far.

The Top Gun Anthem by Harold Faltermeyer is the very first piece of guitar music that can remember hearing. I have always been obsessed with this piece of music. It is amazing in every way.
