#GodRestYouMerryGentlemen is an English traditional #ChristmasCarol. It is in the #RoxburgheCollection, and is listed as no. 394 in the #RoudFolkSong Index. It is also known as Tidings of Comfort and Joy, and by variant incipits as Come All You Worthy Gentlemen;God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen; God Rest Ye, Merry Christians; or God Rest You Merry People All.
Tune Basics is the popular music #education series created by #NewZealand based #musician/content creator Kerin Gedge. It is designed to teach anybody who wants to learn the fundamentals or very basics of how to play #MusicalInstruments which includes #DiatonicHarmonica, #TremoloHarmonica with 24 holes, Tremolo #Harmonica with 16 holes, Tremolo Harmonica with 20 holes, #ChromaticHarmonica, kalimba with ten keys, recorder and #PennyWhistle (also known as #TinWhistle).
The aim of Tune Basics is to acquaint the student with clear graphic based #instructions for how to play simple and recognisable songs. Tune Basics will typically avoid delving too deeply into technique or musical styles but will, where possible, provide the pupil with relevant links to professional musicians who can take the learner deeper when they are ready to move on from basic #lessons.
Generally speaking Tune Basics will focus more on popular songs that are in the #PublicDomain. This is to protect the channel, Kerin Gedge, from any complications that may arise due to copyright claims. But it also aids the musical student with the belief that most popular public domain songs are already deeply embedded in the player’s subconscious, which lends itself to the learning experience. For example tunes like #TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar, #HappyBirthday or even #ChristmasSongs like #SilentNight or #JingleBells are so entrenched in modern western minds that learning the songs is “easy” because you’re already half way there!
Although on occasion #KerinGedge will provide a lesson on a modern popular song without monetising the video. Examples include #TheCoffinDanceMeme which became very popular during 2020, #BillyJoel’s #PianoMan or #Snufkin the harmonica playing wanderer from the #Moomin series.
#TuneBasics also provides #HarmonicaTabs #TinWhistleTabs /#PennyWhistleTabs and #KalimbaTabs on the Tune Basics blog, link provided above. Please be sure to browse our #TABS list as often we will provide TABS that are yet to be animated into #Tutorials. In other words you may find TABS for songs that aren’t available on the channel.
TuneBasics believes that ANYONE can learn to play. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what your musical background is. If you can follow the simple instructions provided in these videos then you’re well on your way to becoming a musician. But don’t expect to “get it” right away. Practice will always make perfect. Sometimes you may need to watch these tutorials a few times to get the hang of it. Most songs on Tune Basics are broken up into simple manageable phrases so learn one phrase at a time! Pause, practice and then continue. And when you’re ready to move onto more complicated lessons check out #LiamWar at #learntheharmonica.com or #TomlinLecki at #tomlinharmonicalessons.com.

The Story of Saint Peter
Recently my son Dominic, age 7, had to do an assignment in which he got to write about his favourite saint, so he chose Peter.
In an effort to make the project more interesting, not just for him but for his entire class, I had him draw all the key characters of the story, recorded him doing the narration, and then set to work bringing his drawings to "life"
I hope to make more of these with my kids in the future in a series about the various "Saints" throughout history, maybe a series on Martyrs and definitely a series relating Bible stories.
The story briefly chronicles the key points in Peter's life, first as a fishermen, meeting Jesus, following him, witnessing his miracles, walking on water, the denial of Christ on the night of his trial, the resurrection and finally Peter himself going on to share the Gospel and performing miracles in Christ's name until his death by upside down crucifixion!
To the Catholics Peter is considered the first Pope, and whether or not you agree with this title, one thing is for sure, he was a key component of the forming of the early church and quite possibly the source behind the account of the Gospel of Mark.

And when you’re ready to move onto more complicated lessons check out #LiamWard at #learntheharmonica.com or #TomlinLecki at #tomlinharmonicalessons.com.

The Bristol-based composer, conductor and organist Arthur Warrell[1] is responsible for the popularity of the carol. Warrell arranged the tune for his own University of Bristol Madrigal Singers, and performed it with them in concert on December 6, 1935.[2] That same year, his elaborate four-part arrangement was published by Oxford University Press, under the title "A Merry Christmas: West Country traditional song".[3]
Warrell's arrangement is notable for using "I" instead of "we" in the words; the first line is "I wish you a Merry Christmas". It was subsequently republished in the collection Carols for Choirs (1961), and remains widely performed.[4]
The earlier history of the carol is unclear. It is absent from the collections of West-countrymen Davies Gilbert (1822 and 1823)[5] and William Sandys (1833),[6] as well as from the great anthologies of Sylvester (1861)[7] and Husk (1864).[8] It is also missing from The Oxford Book of Carols (1928). In the comprehensive New Oxford Book of Carols (1992), editors Hugh Keyte and Andrew Parrott describe it as "English traditional" and "[t]he remnant of an envoie much used by wassailers and other luck visitors"; no source or date is given... learn more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Wish_You_a_Merry_Christmas

#GodDefendNewZealand (Māori: "#Aotearoa", lit. 'New Zealand') is one of two #NationalAnthems of #NewZealand, the other being "#GodSavetheQueen". Legally the two have equal status, but "God Defend New Zealand" is more commonly used. Originally written as a poem, it was set to music as part of a competition in #1876. Over the years its popularity increased, and it was eventually named the second national anthem in 1977. It has #English and #Māori lyrics, with slightly different meanings. Since the late 1990s, the usual practice when performed in public is to perform the first verse of the national anthem twice, first in Māori and then in English. How to Play Happy Birthday on a Tremolo Harmonica with 16 Holes

#HappyBirthdayToYou, also known as #HappyBirthday, is a song traditionally sung to celebrate the anniversary of a person's birth. According to the 1998 #GuinnessWorldRecords, it is the most recognized song in the English language, followed by #ForHesaJollyGoodFellow. The song's base lyrics have been translated into at least 18 languages.[1] The melody of "Happy Birthday to You" comes from the song "Good Morning to All",[2] which has traditionally been attributed to American sisters Patty and Mildred J. Hill in 1893,[3][4] although the claim that the sisters composed the tune is disputed see more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_B...

Hill in 1893,[3][4] although the claim that the sisters composed the tune is disputed see more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Birthday_to_You
Generic description

Plato the Potato
Check out my Instruments on #Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/shop/keringedge (paid link)
Here's a quirky song I wrote for my kids a while back...
The Lyrics are
I had a friend called Plato
Who although was a potato
He was my favourite mate O
Till the day he met his fate O
He went down to the store so
He could buy a fresh tomato
Which was his worst mistake O
For a chef known as Alfredo
Had gone down to the store so
He could be a fresh potato
And when he saw old Plato
He said "Great a free potato!"
And so he took poor Plato
Down to his restaurant-o
And that's how my late mate O
Soon became a baked Potato
As for me I am afraid O
At that time that I did not know
What had happened to poor Plato
So I went out to Alfredo's
Which was my worst mistake O
For I order baked potato
And that's how my mate Plato
Ended up upon my plate O!
So if you're friends with a potato
Don't make the same mistake O
For the thing about potatoes
Is when baked they taste so great O!
I hope to make more quirky songs like this in the near future so stay tuned!
In the meantime

Amazing - Original Vocals by Kerin Gedge
Many years ago I discovered I could make noises into a microphone and lay them on top of each other. No idea why I called it "Amazing"... I was pretty proud of myself at the time.

How to Play a Tremolo Harmonica with 24 Holes

Or Buy me a Coffee @ https://www.buymeacoffee.com/KerinGedge
In the lessons we'll be taking an in depth look into the workings of a #TremoloHarmonica with 24 holes, focusing on the key of C we'll look at the individual notes of each hole and how to play the C major scale in 3 octaves.
Tremolo #harmonicas are a type of harmonica, distinct by having two reeds per note. In a #tremoloharmonica the two reeds are tuned slightly off a reference pitch, one slightly sharp and the other slightly flat. This gives a unique wavering or warbling sound created by the two reeds being not exactly in tune with each other and difference in their subsequent waveforms acting against one another.... for more please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremolo_harmonica
