Earlier in the hearing, Rep Stacy was accused by a democrat rep of badgering Rep McGaugh. IMHO that was not at all true - she was just extremely agitated that she was being asked questions she didn't want to answer. Rep McGaugh was the only one badgering anyone in this hearing.

She knows affiliation may be a thing, but this is just a lot of work for her friends in small counties.

McGaugh is certain of her re-election.

McGaugh confirms it is the voter's choice to affiliate with a party or not but the county clerks are just too wore out to do this.

Rep Stacy asks Rep McGaugh is she's aware her bill is going against her platform.

Rep McGaugh is upset about Rep Stacy's questions and asks if he's threatening her. It was very clear that Rep McGaugh did NOT want to be answering his questions and took offense.

Rep Peggy McGaugh says the County Clerks Assoc want open primaries - and this measure is in conflict with their wishes. The Clerks Assoc is in direct opposition to the MO Republican Platform.

Rep Peggy McGaugh doesn't want candidates to have to declare a party on their voter registration for fear they'll be vetted.

Rep McGaugh believes affiliating a party with a voter is branding.
