Whole house #waterfilter for my #rainwaterharvesting system
While I truly enjoy DIY’ing most all of my projects….. sometimes factory made is just a tiny bit more well engineered than my homemade creations🤪
And with that, I’m taking my home rainwater harvesting system to a whole new level with a 5 stage whole house water filter from @uswatersystems .
Full video of the installation should be up on the channel later today😊👍

DIY Antler Mount - How to make
Making an antler mount for my nephew Johns first deer hunt. I used an old alder wood cabinet door, some copper sheet and a 5 gallon bucket lid for the design template. Nothing terribly fancy, but I hope it will be something that he'll remember the experience with for years to come.

Birdnest Problem... Birdhouse Solution
A few years ago i kept having problems with birds nesting in my gutters. Since rainwater is my primary water source I kept having to remove the nests and hated having to do so. So my solution was to build them a new house under the eaves and give them a better option! And now for the last couple years they've been nesting in the birdhouse and not the gutters... win/win!

Updates: Sponsorship and Greenhouse Sneak Peak
Backwoods Home Magazine subscription offer -
http://bit.ly/1QjHycm
Hey guys/gals! Starting in March, this channel will be officially sponsored by Backwoods Home Magazine. It is going to be a trial run for both them as well as myself, to see if the partnership will be beneficial to both of us. They will be offering a discounted rate on new subscriptions for subscribers of this channel and you will see a small clip of there logo in the video... say like 4-5 seconds or so. I understand some folks may not like the channel having a sponsor, but this is a part time venture for myself and making videos isn't without costs of time and money.
Backwoods Home Magazine is a self reliance oriented publication that is very aligned with the subjects and projects that you see in my videos. And if you like my videos, there is a good chance that you will like the content that they provide in their magazine as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions:)

Chamomile Tincture - How we use and make it
Here is how my wife and I make and use Chamomile Tincture as a home remedy for a variety of ailments. The benefits range from a calming sleep aid to a stomach pain treatment and even use in treating cuts and scrapes.
As for dosage.... we can't recommend any certain amount, as it will depend on your needs, health issues, etc,. But we take a teaspoon as issues exist every hour or so for a couple hours. For nighttime calming/sleeping routines my wife will take one teaspoon a couple hours before bedtime.
Please remember we are not health professionals, doctors, or anything remotely like that. Please consult a professional before consuming anything in your body.

NOTE: This is the first time that I've tried out the time lapse feature of my gopro. It definitely has issues with the exposure but hopefully I'll be able to correct that a bit in future videos:)

Ratchet pruner review - from Cates Garden
I received some ratchet style pruners from Cates Garden a few months ago for review and here are my thoughts. I know it's totally early for most gardening seasons but if you happen to be in the market for some ratchet style pruners, give these a look! Thanks for watching:)
NOTE: There is no link to the pruners, nor am I making any money for reviewing these pruners. I did receive them for free but was under no obligation to do a review. These are just my thoughts:)

Questions & Answers with Joe: Ep 1
I'm wanting to try a new segment where I answer questions on video. Not sure of all the specifics just yet, but basically I'll pick 10-15 questions every couple of weeks and try and answer them the best I can on video:) They might be questions that I get often, hard to answer in writing questions, or just plain interesting questions.
Ask your questions in the comments below and if I decide to answer it on video I'll respond by saying "video" or something like that. As always, thanks for watching:)

Cabinet Door Opener - Kick to Open
Here is a simple 'home hack' modification I made to the cabinet door for our trash bins. It's great for those times when you need to throw something away but have dirty hands... like during meal preparation. I used what I had on hand and maybe it'll give you an idea of something you might be able to do in your home:) Thanks for watching!

Seed Pots from Newspaper - How To
Here's a quick video of how I make seed pots out of newspaper. They're quick, simple and cheap to make. I'm starting my seeds this year in these seed pots as well as soil blocks (I have a couple vids of making those too). Sort of an experiment to see if one outshines the other and also because I just like trying things out to see! Hopefully this will find it's way to all of you gardeners in time for spring! And as always thanks for watching!

Free Compost with your coffee! Green garden tip!
Hey guys, here's a quick tip that you might know already... but here it is anyway;) You can get totally free coffee grounds at your local Starbucks for a great nutrient rich amendment to your compost pile or even added directly to your garden. I've heard that other coffee shops offer the same deal but have only checked Starbucks at this time. Also, I did not purchase any coffee from Starbucks this time when getting the grounds so it was totally free... however, if you do plan on getting grounds often it might be nice to patronize the coffee shop every so often as well:) Thanks for watching!
