Forest Escape Can't Continue Being Claustrophobic in My Office Part 1
In my forest escape homestead office I had lots of counter space and was very organized. That was two years ago. Today, the supplies, books, products I make, wires and cables, as well as electronic devices are unmanageable. I had stress and felt claustrophobic! Like any horrible task, it has to be broken down into smaller manageable tasks, to handle one step at a time. My Office Part 1 gets about 1/2 of the space under control. I am organized, I have counter space, and it is clean. I will be able to handle office planning, scheduling, finance, teaching, printing, and sewing projects now. And, I have so much more light! Homestead struggles are more than just in the garden, greenhouse, forest, or chicken coop!

It is time in the forest escape to start canning and freezing fresh fruits and vegetables! Pizza sauce is the first project! Why is a spider in the communication tower, 50 feet off the ground? Tomato plants need bandages. It is much colder and I see fall leaves appearing!

Forest Escape Homestead Repair of Poultry Waterer and Pop-out Door
There is always something to repair! Today, it is the poultry waterer that needs to be replaced, if possible! Also, the pop-out door is needing to be fixed, as the chickens broke off the door molding and the chain that holds the door open. Rowdy chickens! In the forest escape homestead we use various video equipment including the head mount, chest mount, selfie stick and tripod, as well as a clip on mic and camera mic and various lights. It is fun to see which piece of equipment works best. I have helpers today!

Forest Escape Trying to Beat the Rain, Pellets or Crumble Wrong Chicken Feed, Nighttime Spiders
We picked up the normal 4 bags of poultry feed and 2 bags of scratch, only to find the wrong feed in the process of transporting it to the greenhouse and feed buckets on a 94F day! All while hurrying to beat the rain, of course. While shutting up the coop, gathering eggs, and turning on the radio to deter the raccoons, the nighttime spider is the finishing touch to a fun day on the forest escape homestead! LOL

Forest Escape Storm Plant Damage, Should We Remove or Trim Rooster Spurs, and Purple Hands
We had torrential downpours X3 and strong winds, so a lot of plant damage, as well as limbs down from trees! The roosters have long spurs or sharp spurs, so we needed to decide what to do. The one rooster fell off a roosting bar and hung upside down for a while. That made me realize the spur needed attention. Should we remove the spurs or trim them? Also there is more Blu-Kote on me than on the hens, so what is better - the spray can or pump bottle? See all the fun on the forest escape homestead!

Forest Escape Homestead Garden Progress and Creepy Crawlies
Our forest escape garden was planted late in the ground, but our soil is really the issue, so plants have to be fed a lot, and with the hot summer with little rain, growth is really stunted. We are finally getting corn tassles, small tomatoes, beans and cayennes! Lots of flowers, but little fruit so to speak. Along the way, we encounter all kinds of creepy crawlies! With the iNaturalist Seek app we can finally know their names. Each raised garden bed is shown, as well as the layout with the greenhouse and the chicken coop. Working hard on the homestead to make plants grow, despite squirrels, moles and raccoons.

Forest Escape Gator Ride in the Forest with Our Sweet Dog Nightmare
Taking a Gator ride in the forest escape at our homestead. We took our sweet dog, Nightmare, with us. We got him at about two years old, as a rescue dog from an animal shelter, and Nightmare was his name. They tried to tell us his name was Night, but he didn't seem to respond to it, so they admitted his name was Nightmare. He answers to just Night, now. I think of him as Knight. Like knight in shining armor. He is a sweetie and he is now 13 years old. He likes the John Deere Gator rides! See our paths in the woods, rough terrain, and all the trees!

Forest Escape Plants, Deer, and When We All Get to Heaven
A solemn time in the forest escape homestead. I was going to delete a video I shot with the music playing in the background in the greenhouse, but it was foreshadowing something I could never imagine. We must pay attention to small things when they happen. When We All Get to Heaven was playing on the radio, and three days later our beloved father passed away. When I went to assemble the video, this clip played and I realized how important it was/is. This video is celebrating the deer eating, trying to see hummingbirds, watching the plants growing, and making the daily bread, as well as hearing the music - and cherishing the memories. We have the assured hope of heaven in our salvation through Christ, by the grace of God. When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, as the lyrics say, written by Eliza E. Hewitt, and published in 1898.

Forest Escape iPhone Head Mount for Video, Backhoe, Turkey Mites and Roads
The head mount for wearing the iPhone taking video is a new challenge! I wore my iPhone on my forehead and took a video walking in the woods. It was 92F in our Kentucky forest escape, and so sunny! I didn't use Deep Woods Off or wear my socks over my leggings and I was very sorry! I had so many turkey mites all over my ankles. The backhoe is back up by our home, thankfully without doing any wheelies. Discussing wild grapevines and ferns, firewood needing to be cut up for winter heat, as well as talking about deep ditches, trying to handle road water runoff and erosion on our homestead.

Forest Escape a Black Bear Visits and Steals Garbage, and the Various Berries on the Homestead
It was a very big surprise to see a new visitor at our forest escape homestead! A black bear came to visit us, and circled our area three different times, returning to smell the garbage can, the charcoal grill and the tree garbage. The bear was not afraid of security lights, people, or the sound of our voices, or the radio playing in the greenhouse. He was a brave bear, but he has moved on to a different area of the forest now! Luckily, the chickens were locked in the coop at this time of night. It was 8 PM when the black bear first came to visit us! Strawberries, black raspberries and blackberries are all growing nicely! The black bear stole a contractor bag full of papers and cans, so it really didn't actually get food from that - but it is amazing to watch him haul that giant bag away into the forest!
