Whole Body Health Episode 12: Vasculitis
In this episode of 'Whole Body Health', Dr. JP Saleeby explains what vasculitis is, the common types, and the treatments, both mainstream and alternative. Vasculitis is an autoimmune disorder, characterized by inflammation of the blood vessels. This inflammation can cause a range of symptoms, depending on the affected blood vessels, and it can impact various organs and tissues in the body. In general, inflammation develops in blood vessel walls which cause swelling, narrowing of the lumen, and weakness of the structural wall. The exact cause of vasculitis is often unknown, and the severity can vary.

Long Story Short Episode 87: Muscle Abnormalities Worsen in Post-Exertional Malaise
In this amazing study, Dutch researchers used muscle biopsies in long COVID patients suffering from post-exertional malaise. They found that the muscle phenotype had changed, resulting in lower exercise capacity. They also found mitochondrial function issues and local amyloid accumulation. Macrophages and CD3+ T cells were also infiltrated in the muscle tissues.
The clinical takeaways are to keep inflammation under control, utilize light exercises and not stressful ones, and optimize mitochondrial health.
Let's review.

Long Story Short Episode 86: Persistent Viral Infection and the Risk of Heart Failure
In this in-vitro study, researchers demonstrate that a cardiac tissue infected with SARS-COV-2 can contain the viral genome for days after infection. Not only is the viral genome present, but viral reactivation occurs as soon as this cardiac tissue undergoes a hypoxic stress state. The researchers recommend that clinicians look for the presence of the virus, or its genome, or cardiac troponin levels, to monitor at risk hearts. Let's review.

Whole Body Health Episode 11: Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura
Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder that involves the immune system mistakenly attacking and destroying platelets, which are cells that help the blood to clot. Symptoms that can arise from ITP include bleeding from nose and gums, black blisters in the mouth, bruising, fatigue, and heavy menstrual periods. In this episode of 'Whole Body Health', Dr. Yusuf (JP) Saleeby unpacks this complex illness, explaining what ITP is, insights on possible causes, and treatment options - both mainstream and alternative.

Long Story Short Episode 85: mRNA Vaccines Produce Off-Target Proteins
What are the off-target proteins produced by mRNA vaccines? Can these proteins cause harm? What is the mechanism of their production? Let's review.
An article on University of Cambridge contains this statement, "Researchers have discovered that misreading of therapeutic mRNAs by the cell’s decoding machinery can cause an unintended immune response in the body. They have identified the sequence within the mRNA that causes this to occur and found a way to prevent ‘off-target’ immune responses to enable the safer design of future mRNA therapeutics."

Dr. Paul Marik on The National Desk (TND) - Intermittent Fasting (January 15, 2024)
Dr. Paul Marik joined Jan Jeffcoat on The National Desk (TND) on January 15, 2024 to discuss how intermittent fasting can be used to treat long COVID, long vax, and other chronic diseases including diabetes.
“With long COVID and ‘long vax’, the problem is that spike protein can remain in the cells for years afterwards, and the only way to get rid of intracellular spike protein is through intermittent fasting,” Dr. Marik noted. He continued, “Intermittent fasting activates a cellular process called autophagy, which helps the cell get rid of damaged and foreign protein.”
Dr. Marik also shared his journey using intermittent fasting - and diet and lifestyle changes - to treat his own Type 2 diabetes after living 25 years with the disease.
“You can adapt intermittent fasting to your lifestyle, to your daily routine… most people can do this.”
