1988 Mustang 5.0 FOR SALE at a car show.
If you are looking for a Foxbody Mustang convertible then this one just might be up your alley. A friend of mine is helping sell the car for the owner since his health is failing. It is a documented California car. This LX drop top is powered by a 5.0 backed by an AOD. The car has an aftermarket hood, SVT wheels and a few minor changes. Clean and straight with just over 100kmi. They are asking a very reasonable $8500 for it. If I was into Foxbody Mustangs I would seriously consider this one. the car is in Hiawassee, GA area.

EHR: Check out this wild 4x4 1938 Chevy Rat Rod Truck
This badass '38 Chevrolet truck has a lot going on. Tunnel Ram big block, Lifted 4x4 dually chassis, neat tools added, tons of real patina, and.... Earl. Earl is Mike's way laid back giant chocolate lab who chills out in the back of the flatbed. What a cool truck. Earl makes it that much cooler.

In the Garage With EHR: Exhausting the Basement Bird
We put the '63 bulletbird Thunderbird up on the rack to replace the exhaust and ended up fixing a trans leak as well. The 390 runs great, but the exhaust leaks made it sound like a bomb. The exhaust donut on the left manifold was shot, the tail pipes were perforated and the mufflers were blown out. Now it has a nice low rumble and is more pleasing to drive. The factory trans line had a hole in it that revealed itself by dripping on me while I was fitting the head pipe. Good thing it happed on the lift, rather than on the road.

EHR: Original 1 Owner AMC SC/Rambler 4 speed walk around.
I saw this AMC Hurst SC/Rambler at the Blairsville Cruisers Farmers Market cruise in and had to check it out. Turns out it is a 1 owner car! The guy bought it new in '69 with the same 390, 4 Speed and A paint code when he got out of the Marines. It was their only car for years. He just passed it down to his daughter and she's sure proud of it. And get this, when he bought it his Marine buddy bought a B paint scheme equipped the same and that guy still has his. So cool. These muscle cars from American Motors were purpose build to compete as a stock class drag car and ran 14s. Just over 1500 were built.

In The Garage With EHR 1964 Formcar Formula Vee Racer First time running AND First test drive.
UPDATED: And now for something completely different. Will it run? We get my dad's 1964 Formcar Formula V race car fired up for the first time ever! The 1600 single port VW engine sounds pretty healthy. Then we take it for the first test drive. I immediately find a problem.... watch to see what it is. What is your solution? The Formcar company founder started the Formula V spec class to have an affordable entry level race car class that about anyone could get into. The bare chassis and body kits sold for $995 during their whole time in business. The idea was: buy their chassis and a clapped out Beetle and you could pirate almost everything you needed for the build off of the Bug. These cars are still very popular today as they created one of the most competitive classes of racing, they look like early Indy cars, and car reach speeds over 120mph.

Thunderbirds, Camaros, and Mustangs, oh boy! Not to mention shoebox Fords and Tri-5 Chevys, novas, Chevelles, C10 pickups, Edsels, Gassers and even a Cord. The weather was perfect for cruising this Saturday night and the turnout was great for the Blairsville Cruisers' On The Square monthly cruise in. Held every 3rd Saturday of the month through the show season. I didn't start filming until closing time, but here is a quick 3 minute look at some of the stuff that was there.

EHR: 1/24th Slot Drags In Slow Motion
This slot cars rocket down the 27.5' track in a second or less, so slo-mo makes being them much easier. When we were running at Peachtree Dragway I shot some slo-mo video. Watch how close some of these dial-in races are at the finish. Check out the cars fight for traction off the line. Watch John's wild Willys get twisted up and sideways as it runs after my red lighting '63 Pontiac AWB Tempest. These sucks sound like Star Wars fighters.

Ride Along With EHR: Blown Big Block '64 Vette Gasser
I've had these videos kicking around for a while now. I was planning on doing a longer in-depth video on the car, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards with the car suddenly acting up, then my dad fighting cancer and other health issues it put the car on hold for a year and a half. He has been trying to chase out the gremlins with the engine, carbs, ignition, fuel delivery... he gets closer, but here are some clips of it when he and the car were happy together. It is a 1964 Corvette gasser that he built years ago. First it was a pro streeter, but he got the gasser bug a half dozen years ago and changed it up. Most recently he built a blown 468" big block Chevy to help obstruct his view more. Solid roller, 6-71 Weiand huffer, twin 750 Holleys, TCI TH400 with a 3200 stall sending the power to a narrowed 9" Ford with 3.70 gears.

EHR: Pig Dog & Moo trying shrimp tails and cocktail sauce.
My 2 garage dogs, Muncie (Moo) and Holley (Pig Dog) certainly have different tastes in things. Holley usually eats about anything, while Muncie is far pickier. Muncie always likes shrimp tails (all my dogs have) just as long as their isn't even a trace of cocktail sauce on them. Holley on the other hand....

In the woods with Holley the pig dog.
The whole family was out enjoying the woods and getting a break from the garage. The girls were messing with a whirlpool in the stream, while Muncie bounced from bank to bank looking for critters. My wife nd I looked on as they all played, except Holley. Holley is a weirdo. Muncie is the best dog I ever had, always game for what ever we are doing. Fearless, adventurer ready for action. Then there's Holley. She is a mutt fabricated in some odd backroom experiment with left over parts of whatever was laying around. So goofy she is cute. She cracks us up everyday and you can see why. Like the Danny DeVeto of dogs.

EHR: Basement Bird Thunderbird Gets a Supreme Upgrade
The wire wheel hubcaps on the '63 T-Bird just weren't doing it for me. I hunted long and hard for the right wheel and tire combo. I wanted Astro Supreme wheels, because they were one of the first mass produced mag wheels to hit the market in the early '60s and I am going for that early to mid '60s mild custom look. Seems like I only find Ford pattern wheels when I need Chevy, and Chevy pattern when I need Ford. I ended up ordering a set of 15x7" Cragar Supreme wheels from Summit. I wanted 6" wide, but lo gots. These 7 inches have a 3.5" backspace, so I knew they would fit without the skirts, but wasn't sure about the skirts fitting. Shod with 205/75r15 thin whitewall tires, they fit the car perfect and give it the exact look I was going for. Bad news: Skirts don't clear, the wheels needed at least a half inch more backspacing. Good news: I like the car better without the skirts anyway, so I'm thrilled with the look.

Eastern Hot Rodder Walk Around: 1970 Chevelle Malibu, Not SS
With so many Chevelle being turned into Super Sports, and often poorly, it is refreshing to see one left with the Malibu trim package it left the factory with. We walk around this '70 we saw at the Blue Ridge, GA Dairy Queen Cruise held the 4th Friday of the month. The owner kept all the Malibu trim, except he blacked the grill out like an SS rather than leaving it the argent silver color (wise choice in my book). He even kept the flat hood, though a dome (not cowl induction, they had the flapper) could have been ordered for the Malibu. I even cover a backup light detail most don't know about.

EHR: Peachtree Dragway's First Test Night. Slot Car Test 'N' Tune.
John B got the Peachtree Dragway 1;24 slot car drag way up and running, so a bunch of us misfits headed over to test it out. Here are some videos I shot while demonstrating how to red-light while filming. To redeem myself, we got together a couple nights later and I won the small bracket race we had and got low reaction time with a .0002, but I didn't catch it on film of course. This track is a scale 1/8 mile, so that's 27.5 feet for those who don't want to dig out the calculator. The fellas build some cool cars and there's a bit of everything. Gassers, Altereds, A/FX, pickup trucks, VW Beetles, Muscle cars, Pro Stocks and even Ray's Ramp Truck. We had a bunch of fun and have a few things to figure out before we set up a weekly race night.
