SMARTPHONE ASTRO! Widefield Series! Orion Nebula M42!
This is the next video in my widefield series using my Galaxy smartphone and the SVBONY SV503 70ED DOUBLET Refractor!
I'll show you my experience doing a-focal imaging of the Orion Nebula M42 with this refractor. Also, I'll show you how I processed this nebula, and blended two sets of different exposures in Adobe Photoshop to make the Trapezium more visible.

SMARTPHONE ASTRO! Video Imaging JUPITER At Opposition! Part 1 - Using Pro Video Mode!
Welcome back to SMARTPHONE ASTRO! and Deep Sky Dan!
In this video I'll show you how I video image Jupiter using the Pro Video mode in my Samsung Galaxy S10+. You'll see the settings I use and a few tricks to getting the best focus so you can take great videos. I was luckily enough to have somewhat clear skies when Jupiter came in to opposition (closest point to earth). And, luckily enough the atmosphere and seeing were decent which allowed me to catch some surface details. Planetary imaging is highly dependent on these two factors. If neither are good, you can forget it! Lol. But if you have both of these, then you're stoked!
Good Luck & Clear Skies!

SMARTPHONE ASTRO! EASY Eyepiece Projection Image Stacking In SEQUATOR!
Welcome to Smartphone Astro & Deep Sky Dan! Thanks for stopping by!
This is a video I've been wanting to make for quite some time now, but can't say why it took me so long! Well, its here now lol. This is my personal stacking workflow in Sequator that I use for all my galaxies & other deep sky images. It's very easy to use and I like the outcome versus Deep Sky Stacker. Plus, Its free! A who doesn't like free?! Also, I've included a link to where you can download it safely. And, I've also included a link to exact same data (minus the darks and flats) I used in this video so you can follow along If you'd like. Thanks for watching and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

SMARTPHONE ASTRO! How To Video & Process A Planet! SATURN! Part 2 - Video Processing (Lucky Imaging)
Welcome back to Smartphone Astro! This processing tutorial is part 2 of my "How To Video & Process A Planet - Saturn!" series. In this video you will learn how to process a planet using three programs that you can download and use for FREE! This is my personal workflow and all the tools I use. Just remember, every video you process will be different due to quality and the actual planet you process. But this tutorial will give you the basics of video processing using these programs so that you can tackle planetary processing using this technique of "Lucky Imaging".
Below are the links where you can download each program from its source.
I've also included a link to the exact video I used in this tutorial so that you can download and follow along with me.
Good luck!

SMARTPHONE ASTRO! How To Video And Process A Planet! SATURN! Part 1 - Video Imaging
Hey everybody! I made this video right before winter but couldn't get it out until now, sorry!
In this tutorial I will show you how to take video of my favorite planet Saturn (other planets are OK) using the "pro video" mode in your smartphone. This is important because we need to have control over the exposure and ISO settings. Regular video mode will not work! There are many settings, but adjusting the EXPOSURE (the amount of light that is collected) is one of the most important in order to get the details without overexposing the planet. ISO is like the gain and will adjust the amount of brightness collected. It is also important to not overexpose with this setting. But always remember, the most important thing is the ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS. If the atmosphere is turbulent then there is nothing you can do. However, this is everchanging so keep checking throughout the night.
I hope you can get outside and get some video on your favorite planet! Clear skies!

SMARTPHONE ASTRO! Comet Leonard! Easy Comet Stacking & Processing
One of the best comets to come around since NEOWISE has been in the early morning and early evening sky, COMET LEONARD! I had a chance to view and image it in the early morning of November 29th, 2021. At that time it was in the constellation Canes Venatici. It has since made it's closest pass to earth and the sun, and will now head out of the solar system only to come back again in another 80,000 years!
I haven't had much experience with comets but after some trial and error, I found it was quite easy to stack the images in a free program called "Deep Sky Stacker" using their comet stacking algorithm. Once that was done, only a few simple steps in Photoshop will bring out this comet in all it's glory!
To follow along with this tutorial, I've included a link to the same images I used here along with a link to get Deep Sky Stacker. I hope you will follow along!

SMARTPHONE ASTRO! How To Image And Process A Galaxy! 3 Part Series! Part 3 - Processing Tutorial
This video is Part 3 of my Smartphone Astro Galaxy Imaging Series. In this video you will see a basic workflow in Photoshop (plus some extras) on how to process the Triangulum galaxy M33 data that I got in Part 2 of this series. If you would like to follow along but don't have your own M33 data, go to the link below to download the exact same stacked TIFF that I will be using in this tutorial. Sorry but I tried to keep it as short as possible but processing is not a quick process! If you post your image of M33 on social media please give me credit for the data. Thanks and good luck!

SMARTPHONE ASTRO! How To Image And Process A Galaxy! 3 Part Series! Part 2 - Imaging & Gear Upgrades
This video is Part 2 of my Galaxy Imaging Series. It shows my new gear and how I image a galaxy with my telescope, the Celestron NexYZ phone holder, and the DeepSkyCamera app.
Sorry for the delay! Summer was brutal here in Japan, but finally it's much cooler and the skies are clearing up. Time to image a galaxy! But which galaxy will I be targeting? Watch the video to find out!
Also, I will making my personal stacked TIF file available to download on Google Drive. If you can't get your own data on this galaxy but still want to try processing it, I will make the link available in Part 3 (processing) of this series.
