BEETHOVEN - Coriolan Overture Op. 62 - (German: Coriolan-Ouvertüre or Ouvertüre zu Coriolan)
BEETHOVEN (Ludwig van Beethoven) - Coriolan Overture Op. 62 - (German: Coriolan-Ouvertüre or Ouvertüre zu Coriolan)
Performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra
The Coriolan Overture Op. 62 (German: Ouvertüre Coriolan, Op. 62) is a composition written by Ludwig van Beethoven in 1807 for Heinrich Joseph von Collin's 1804 tragedy Coriolan, about the ancient Roman leader Gaius Marcius Coriolanus, and not, as is sometimes claimed, for William Shakespeare's play Coriolanus
The overture was premiered in March 1807 at a private concert of the home of Prince Franz Joseph von Lobkowitz. The Symphony No. 4 in B-flat and the Piano Concerto No. 4 in G were premiered in that same concert

CHOPIN - Nocturne No 2 in E Flat Major Op 9
CHOPIN - Nocturne No 2 in E Flat Major Op 9
Piano Classical Music
The Nocturnes, Op. 9 are a set of three nocturnes written by Frédéric Chopin between 1830 and 1832, published that year, and dedicated to Madame Emily Chopin. The second nocturne of the work is widely regarded as Chopin's most famous piece, and is regularly featured in films, television programs and video games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturn...
The Chopin nocturnes constitute 21 pieces for solo piano written by Frédéric Chopin between 1827 and 1846. They are generally considered among the finest short solo works for the instrument and hold an important place in contemporary concert repertoire. Although Chopin did not invent the nocturne, he popularized and expanded on it, building on the form developed by Irish composer John Field.
The nocturnes numbered 1 to 18 were published during his life, in twos or threes, in the order of composition. Numbers 19 and 20 were actually written first, prior to Chopin's departure from Poland, but published posthumously. Number 20 was not originally entitled "nocturne" at all, but since publication in 1870 as such, is generally included with publications and recordings of the set. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturn...

CHOPIN - Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23
CHOPIN - Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23 - Piano Classical Music
Frédéric François Chopin
The ballade dates to sketches Chopin made in 1831, during his eight-month stay in Vienna. It was completed in 1835 after his move to Paris, where he dedicated it to Baron Nathaniel von Stockhausen, the Hanoverian ambassador to France.
In 1836, Robert Schumann wrote: "I have a new Ballade by Chopin. It seems to me to be the work closest to his genius (though not the most brilliant). I even told him that it is my favourite of all his works. After a long, reflective pause he told me emphatically: 'I am glad, because I too like it the best, it is my dearest work.

Giovanni Battista Pergolesi - Flute Concerto in G major
The Flute Concerto in G major is a work usually atributed to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, though it is probably spurious (hissuccess led to many to attribute their works to him in order to sell better). In any case, it is one of the few purely instrumental compositions attributed to Pergolessi, scored for flute, 2 violins, and continuo. Its 3 movements last about twelve minutes

Johann Sebastian Bach - 6 Violin Sonatas, BWV 1014-1019
It may be that the Sonatas BWV 1014-1019 were composed before the rest of Bach's sonatas, thus making them the first modern duo sonatas -in the sense that they have a full writte-out harpsichord part, raising this instrument from its mere continuo rol into an equal of the soloist.
