Florida Man | Cigar Unboxing
https://www.cigarpage.com/florida-man.html
Raymond Pages is the best young tobacco man we've seen since discovering AJ Fernandez in a small bodega back in 2008. Which is fitting, as Raymond (AJ's brother in law), immigrated from Cuba to Nicaragua and became his protege and top blender. Today Raymond runs the Tabacalera Pages factory and is no doubt one of the top boutique cigar makers in Esteli. Florida Man is among his finest, a Cuban-esque masterpiece that hits all the marks. Packaging wise, Florida Man bands are beautiful, an homage to Ernest Hemingway's 'The Old Man and The Sea' with gorgeous matching boxes, and the size names nod to Papa's life and time spent in Key West.
The cigar itself is the real story. Florida Man is crafted with a lovely Connecticut wrapper that's oozing with a golden sheen, buttery smooth looking with some fine veins. Like all Raymond-made blends, it brings flawless construction including an ash that stays solid damn near halfway through the smoke. Almost medium-bodied, it's on the fuller side of mild to medium for sure, with enough oomph to stay extremely interesting but without the slight bitterness often associated with Connecticut Shade. There is some nice spice on the lips and touch of pepper that you may not expect along with a pronounced floral note. Very interesting, complex, refined, pepper and some creaminess, with nuanced notes that ebb and flow from head to foot. This beautiful baby burns slowly and deliberately, making for a pleasing, full hour long ride perfect any time of day.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Florida Man favorably to Perdomo Champagne, Arturo Fuente, Cohiba Connecticut, and Ave Maria Immaculata in terms of cost and flavor profile.

Caldwell Blind Man's Bluff Nicaragua & Dunkin' Spiced Coffee
https://www.cigarpage.com/caldwell-blind-man-s-bluff-nicaragua.html
Made in Honduras but with all Nicaraguan tobacco, the Blind Man’s Bluff Nicaragua is smooth with hints of nuts, cream, and leather. Medium in strength, its perfect for fans of Padron natural, Perdomo Sun Grown, or Arturo Fuente cigars. Surprisingly affordable too, especially at CP prices.

Pirate's Gold Review with Tommy Z
https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
"Slow is smooth and smooth is fast." It has taken a few years, but the wait was worth it. Pirate's Gold has now landed. This was a Rolando Reyes brand (of Cuba Aliados fame), and subsequently re-blended and made by AJ Fernandez for a spell. Now Pirate's Gold is in the hands of Cuban expatriate Raymond Pages out of Esteli, and sports a new look and all new upgraded blend. Solid Gold indeed, this lovely creature is made with aged tobaccos and a lovely, seamless, almost shimmering Connecticut Ecuador wrapper that's buttery looking with some nice sheen and tooth. Out of the gate it's a tad feisty, with an opening pepper bomb that dissipates after the first few puffs before a pronounced creamy component kicks in, with hints of spice, toast, plus a floral note on the finish. The delicious creamy flavor lingers throughout the cigar. Smooth and velvety, it's on the milder side of mild to medium in body, with a mix of sweet and salt, some lingering spice and a honey bread character. Around the midway point it develops an enjoyable savory finish that stays the rest of the way. Well-made, it holds an unshakeable ash for about an inch and belts out voluminous plumes of smoke. By the final third the complexity is undeniable, featuring distinct changes as it burns from foot to head. Consistent and well-balanced atop a creamy foundation.
If you like Ashton, 5 Vegas Gold, or Montecristo, Pirate's Gold is a killer alternative and brings a reasonable all-day price to boot.

Oliva 10-Cigar Flight Sampler: Top to Bottom Review with Alex
https://www.cigarpage.com/oliva-10-cigar-flight-sampler-2-5-s-kp-olv031-10.html
(2 of each)
Oliva Master Blends 3:
Rated '92' by Cigar Aficionado. Sports a Sungrown Broadleaf maduro wrapper that masks Habano-seed Nicaraguan ligero long leaves. Bold with bursts of toasted spice that balance well with its earthy, long-lasting finish. Complex.
Oliva Connecticut Reserve:
89-Rated, Nicaraguan long fillers and binder. Finished with only the finest Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. Subtle notes of wood, coffee, and cream. Well balanced. Medium-bodied.
Oliva Serie O:
Rated '94' by Cigar Aficionado. A complex, yet balanced blend of Nicaraguan long leaves are concealed by a robust Nicaraguan Habano wrapper. Medium to full-bodied with earth, pepper, and a lengthy, smooth finish.
Oliva Serie O Maduro:
A complex, yet balanced blend of Nicaraguan long leaves are concealed by a creamy, bold Nicaraguan maduro wrapper. Medium to full-bodied with rich, earthy flavors, note of spice, and a semi-sweet finish.
Oliva Serie G:
Serie G's personality is a combination of spicy earthiness that stems from its Nicaraguan Habano long fillers, all perfectly accentuated by an exotic, toothy African Cameroon wrapper, so you can expect a deliciously smooth medium-bodied character that's loaded with notes of oak, spice, cedar, almonds and coffee.

Buena Vista Edicion Limitada Review with Tommy Z
www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
Raymond Pages is quietly pumping out remarkably good blends - the best young cigar maker we've seen in years. Raymond took over the Buena Vista brand last year and what he's created is a sight to behold. The gorgeous Habano wrappers are a lovely shade of medium to dark brown with ample oils and tooth. Nice draw with slight resistance, this slow-burning smoke has a perfect burn line, wonderful aroma and a thick, chonky white ash that holds like a champ. Buena Vista brings a nice cedary component, subtle pepper and that typical Raymond spice that I can't get enough of. But it also has an underlying sweetness that takes it up a notch in the complexity department. Strength is medium if not medium-full. Spend some time with this one, all its flavors are bright and pronounced which make for an interesting and highly enjoyable smoke.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Buena Vista favorably to CAO Pilon, Espinosa Laranja, and Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua in terms of cost and flavor profile.

BDL 9-Cigar Flight Sampler: Top to Bottom Review with Alex
https://www.cigarpage.com/bdl-9-cigar-flight-sampler.html
BDL Balthazar series: this is one of the finest all day values we've come across, and though we carnival bark from time to time, I don't say that lightly. We're all about value for sure. Yet BDL is not a "value brand" per se. There is nothing economical about these blends other than price to you. They're super-premiums made with top materials including tediously fermented, aged tobaccos, and they're meticulously constructed..... at an all-day price of $3 to $3.50 delivered. The term "super-premium" is overused, and used loosely, yet if you smoke these boutique blends side by side against $10+ cigars, these ligas are each right there and then some. Hailing from Raymond Pages and his Tabacalera Pages factory in Esteli, Nicaragua - Raymond was the right hand man and young protege to AJ Fernandez for years before moving out on his own. And like AJ in his earlier days, Raymond made the decision to do things a little different: it's not easy to gain traction and build a reputation, so his idea was massively overdeliver on quality and price these razor-sharp, at risk of having some customers form the perception the cigars are cheap since price is cheap. We love that move. It's a customer-first mentality and says "let me prove it to you." I know you will find the price-to-quality ratio off the charts because Raymond is a tremendous talent and Team CP is geeking out over these blends. Take a dive into this pool - or just a toe-dip - and let us know.

Rocky Patel Black Swan & Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky | Cigar Pairing
https://www.cigarpage.com/rocky-patel-black-swan-ks-bsr.html
A Black Swan event is an extreme rarity, and the Black Swan series of cigars is designed to take advantage of unique tobaccos at a given factory. It's the fruit of our team on the ground in Nicaragua. We're always seeking out unique tobaccos in bodegas that have yet to find their way into a cigar. In its simplest form, tobacco is a commodity and factories either grow and/or purchase materials in large lots to get what they need to maintain consistency in their iconic blends and brands. The result of this pattern means there are inevitably unique, small batch tobaccos lumped in that are too small to make a full-time production blend, and such tobaccos are typically stored away for aging. They may emerge for special limited edition projects or they may accumulate, depending on the factory. Black Swan is so named to take advantage of these exceptional but limited tobacco lots.
Finally landed here at Cigar Page HQ is the newest Black Swan - this one from Rocky Patel - building on the success of the Oliva Black Swan. Rocky enters the ring with a notable offering and what makes it special, as if often the case, is the wrapper. This is a coffee bean-brown Corojo leaf that's oozing with oils and tooth galore. It's Honduran Corojo from the Jamastran Valley and it is the highest-grade shade grown wrapper in Honduras. This leaf secures an aged mixture of Nicaraguan and Honduran long-fillers, and all told the recipe brings in a medium-strength smoke that saturates the palate with bright but smooth flavors. A veritable Neapolitan combo of vanilla, chocolate, and fruit undergirds the smoke throughout the burn, with a flavor profile that's as complex as it gets. Layer after layer of flavors, including notes of honey, bread, nuts, and pepper with a nuanced finish, lending exceptional balance to the blend. I think you'll like this.

Last of My Kind Sigma & Lighter Unboxing
https://www.cigarpage.com/last-of-my-kind.html
Last of My Kind from Nicaragua hits the palate like a velvet JDAM. Around here at CP HQ, we smoke new blends all the time – samples and existing brands both big and small, you name it, on the regular. There’s a lot of average stuff. Some are ho-hum or even pretty good, and some are awful, but every now and then there’s something pretty special. This blend from Raymond Pages out of Esteli is one of those special ones.
Last of My Kind is a full-bodied, robust, complex cigar brimming with leather flavors, there is no doubt. But that is said of many cigars. This one is hard to do justice because it has layers upon layers of flavor and more complexity than most. The wrapper is perfect: oily, Habano, dark, toothy. Firm throughout, the cold draw brings notes of raisins and coffee. Toasting it delivers a razor-sharp burn line and very white, firm ash that holds firm. Flavor wise there is ample sweetness up front with a rich, full coating of smoke, cocoa, and molasses. As you proceed here comes the richness and complexity, with notes of leather, rye, cinnamon with a nice barnyard finish and copious amounts of smoke. In the final third it’s earthy and bready with an underlying, lingering spiciness. On one hand it may be the Man’s Man of the Man’s Man Cigar of the Year. In the cigar arms race to produce full-bodied blends enough to sprout new chest hairs or burn them off this is nothing new.
But Last of My Kind is a bit of a different breed. Full? Yes. Spicy? No doubt. But it’s well-balanced and refined which makes this the ultimate palate-pleasing cigar experience all the way to the nub. The Habano wrapper is a beautiful deep brown, toothy and oily while the fillers from Ometepe, Condega and Esteli deliver the goods. Construction is perfect, like all of Raymond’s blends. Heavy in the hand, solid and well-rolled from cap to foot. The burn is razor sharp and brings copious plumes of smoke that’ll have you communicating with the next county by smoke signals alone. This is the cigar equivalent of a 48-oz Porterhouse.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Last of My Kind favorably toMan O War Ruination, AJ Fernandez New World Dorado, and Plasencia Alma Fuerte in terms of cost and flavor profile.

BDL Balthazar - Liga 12 Habano Review
www.cigarpage.com/bdl-liga-12-habano.html
Each liga in the BDL series is intentionally designed to hit a different strength and flavor profile. Liga 12 Habano is a total looker with a gorgeous, oily, toothy, dark and reddish wrapper. Starts out medium in strength, with exceptional construction, a razor tight burn line, and a hefty, thick head of ash that holds like a champ. It builds slowly in strength becoming a bit fuller and stronger, and offers a nice dose of spice and pepper with a toasty, molasses-like character.
BDL Balthazar series: this is one of the finest all day values we've come across, and though we carnival bark from time to time, I don't say that lightly. We're all about value for sure. Yet BDL is not a "value brand" per se. There is nothing economical about these blends other than price to you. Penn Standard Gold Standard & Johnnie Walker Blue Label | Cigar Pairing
https://www.cigarpage.com/penn-standard-gold.html
Gold Standard is a fantastic addition to the original Penn Standard PA Broadleaf series, and then some. Gold Standard is a bold name.... but walks the walk. If you like Connecticut shade but also like some character and oomph in your cigars - more medium-bodied than mild - this blend will impress. Hailing from Raymond Pages and his Tabacalera Pages factory, Penn Standard Gold is draped in a grade-A Connecticut Ecuador wrapper and it is positively gorgeous. Seamless and beautiful with a golden color, slightly oily sheen, and attractive toothiness. A roll between the thumb and forefinger tells you this lovely stick is going to be a treat.
Light it up and you have excellent combustion and smooth draw, and a firm white ash that holds for a solid inch plus. Off the bat there are pronounced floral notes and undertones of bread and toast with an almost latte-like flavor. Then spice becomes more prominent along with notes of ginger, earth, and cream of wheat. By the midway point the spice remains but there's an added salty component and the complexity starts to show itself, as the flavor and strength continues building. By the final third there are soft notes of cedar which marry well with the spice and floral component. Overall, Gold Standard is more on the medium side of mild-medium in strength, yet stays very very smooth and well-balanced throughout.
In addition to the Connecticut seed Ecuador wrapper, the long filler blend includes five-year aged Pennsylvania and Nicaraguan tobaccos. An exceptional choice for those that don't want a full-bodied powerhouse in strength but don't want to sacrifice rich and complex flavors.
Our staff compares Gold Standard favorably to Charter Oak Connecticut, AJ Fernandez San Lotano Connecticut, Oliva Connecticut Reserve, Joya de Nicaragua Antano Connecticut, and My Father Connecticut.

Record Bond is a beauty in its own right and then some. The wrapper is a gorgeous, oily Ecuador Habano leaf with lovely sheen and ample tooth, combined with a Condega binder and long-fillers from Pennsylvania, Condega, and Esteli. Out of the gate it's on the full side with nice nicotine power, then mellows as it burns delivering notes of leather, cedar, chocolate, earth, and a slight sweetness.
