Asylum Cool Brew Review
Asylum Cool Brew is a revolutionary new blend from Christian Eiroa and Tom Lazuka. Using a 'steeping' technique to enhance the flavor of the Maduro wrapper and Honduran long-fillers, Cool Brew provides intense flavor notes of mint, chocolate, and coffee. Stays smooth throughout. Medium-bodied.

BDL Liga 5 Maduro Cigar Review with Tommy Z
Shop Here: https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
Each liga in the BDL series is intentionally designed to hit a different strength and flavor profile. Liga 5 Maduro brings a San Andres Maduro wrapper, Nicaraguan long-filler and binder. It's profoundly rich yet smooth, with a fulsome and complex flavor profile including notes of spice, coffee bean, toast, and earth. Out of the gate it offers a spicy, zesty finish with underlying pepper and sweetness. Gently box-pressed, it's medium to full in strength.
BDL Balthazar series: this is one of the finest all day values we've come across, and though we carnival bark from time to time, I don't say that lightly. We're all about value for sure. Yet BDL is not a "value brand" per se. There is nothing economical about these blends other than price to you. They're super-premiums made with top materials including tediously fermented, aged tobaccos, and they're meticulously constructed..... at an all-day price of $3 to $3.50 delivered. The term "super-premium" is overused, and used loosely, yet if you smoke these boutique blends side by side against $10+ cigars, these ligas are each right there and then some. Hailing from Raymond Pages and his Tabacalera Pages factory in Esteli, Nicaragua - Raymond was the right hand man and young protege to AJ Fernandez for years before moving out on his own. And like AJ in his earlier days, Raymond made the decision to do things a little different: it's not easy to gain traction and build a reputation, so his idea was massively overdeliver on quality and price these razor-sharp, at risk of having some customers form the perception the cigars are cheap since price is cheap. We love that move. It's a customer-first mentality and says "let me prove it to you." I know you will find the price-to-quality ratio off the charts because Raymond is a tremendous talent and Team CP is geeking out over these blends. Take a dive into this pool - or just a toe-dip - and let us know.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares BDL Liga 5 Maduro favorably to Drew Estate Liga Undercrown Maduro, Ave Maria Reconquista, and Rocky Patel Sun Grown Maduro in terms of cost and flavor profile.

NEW! Hellas Review with Tommy Z
Shop Here: https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
The famous Greek poet Homer, author of Iliad and Odyssey, was of course one of the most influential men in history and helped shape Western civilization as we know it. Like Homer, Raymond Pages is a master at his craft. The best young tobacco man we have seen since discovering AJ Fernandez in a small bodega back in 2008. Which is fitting, as Raymond emigrated from Cuba to Nicaragua some years later and became AJ's protege and top blender. Today, Raymond runs the Tabacalera Pages factory and is no doubt one of the top boutique cigar makers in EstelÃ.
Hellas pays homage to Homer and ancient Greece, with a complex and flavor-packed joyride of a blend. To the eye, this cigar boasts Raymond's signature brick shithouse construction - perfect level of firmness, a beautiful, dark, almost reddish-brown Habano wrapper, a lovely oily sheen and toothy texture, and perfect combustion and draw, including a firm stack-of-dimes grey-white ash that seems to hold for miles. Off the bat, there is pepper and spice with a sweet component and it's medium in strength. By the middle third of the cigar, you're taking the elevator to the top floor of Complexity HQ, as the richness and sweetness intensify. We're now in medium to full-bodied territory with a warm, satisfying feeling in the belly and the lips are tingling nicely. There's a creaminess and coffee bean component now, and the pepperiness lingers, yet remains balanced through the end. Hellas is a highly enjoyable, medium to full-bodied masterpiece from Raymond.

Rojas Cigars Street Tacos Carnitas | Cigar Review
https://www.cigarpage.com/rojas-cigars-street-tacos-carnitas.html
Founded by the talented Noel Rojas, this boutique cigar brand hails from Richardson, Texas. Rojas has left an indelible mark on the industry. If you’ve ever savored a Guayacan, Ezra Zion, or Nomad cigar, chances are Rojas had a hand in its creation. He now has quite the portfolio of his own, and with a focus on small, more Cuban-esq ring gauges, they deliver big tobacco flavor.
Street Tacos Carnitas features a Nicaraguan binder as well as fillers that are coated with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. This recipe creates a cigar with notes of hay and coffee, with a hint of sweetness that accents the smoke for added complexity. Mild to medium in body, it is perfect for beginners but still has enough substance for seasoned aficionados.

Hoofty Hog & Death Wish Coffee | Cigar Pairing
https://www.cigarpage.com/hoofty-hog.html
Made by Raymond Pages in Nicaragua, Hoofty HOG is fuller in body than the Original.... more medium to full overall but with ample spice and notes of black pepper up front that absolutely coat the palate. The Ecuadorian Habano Maduro wrapper is a dark, matte brown color with a mottled and toothy look, and is paired with a Mexican San Andres binder and long-filler recipe of Puebla Nuevo, Condega, and Jalapa fillers from NIcaragua. Dense, meaty and well-constructed, it builds in both complexity and strength as it burns, yet stops short of full-tilt, full-bodied strength. This heady concoction offers notes of toast, espresso, leather, nuts, and earth, with a pepper-forward profile balanced with a slight sweetness. Overall a rich and satisfying blend for maduro lovers.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Hoofty Hog favorably to Punch Signature, Diesel Unlimited, and My Father The Judge in terms of cost and flavor profile.

NEW! Antihero & Jack Daniels | Cigar Pairing
https://www.cigarpage.com/antihero.html
In the cigar world, Raymond Pages may be the hero you want and the hero you deserve. Antihero is a unique offering from Raymond. More medium or medium-plus than full in body, it's rich and robust but incredibly balanced and smooth, never overwhelming. The wrapper is a dark Habano leaf - not a maduro but almost maduro looking - brimming with oils, nice tooth and texture. Cold draw features a distinct honey, bready character and notes of earth, leather, and spice. Nicely box-pressed, it burns perfectly, good draw, crisp carbon line, and firm ash you have to knock off. Starts out pleasantly with some notes of cocoa, wood, and some spice, with a slight musty earthiness and zero harshness. By the second half, the spice that is building gives way to black pepper, leather, cinnamon, and espresso. Antihero is the ideal cigar in combination of richness and smoothness and pairs perfectly with whiskey or beer.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Antihero favorably to Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua, Montecristo Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez, and Trinidad Espiritu in terms of cost and flavor profile.

The Brand & Bulleit Bourbon | Cigar Pairing
https://www.cigarpage.com/the-brand.html
Although it took 3+ years to release, The Brand was the first blend I smoked out of the Tabacalera Pages factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, and signaled what a strong up-and-coming factory this was. This blend is a shining example of an authentic craft boutique cigar. Ample flavor, character and complexity without overpowering strength and body, it brings earthy tones, creaminess, bread, and a unique, subtle underlying spicy-sweetness. The Brand remains smooth and balanced but builds in strength somewhat as it burns, developing a pronounced coffee bean note. Beautifully constructed, its gorgeous dark brown wrapper is a Habano Ecuador, Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-fillers from Esteli and Condega together with Dominican Piloto Cubano tobaccos. Like its no-nonsense name, The Brand is all substance and priced way below where it should be. Another highly recommended cigar from Raymond Pages.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares The Brand favorably to Arturo Fuente Opus X, Ashton Heritage, and Padron in terms of cost and flavor profile.

Penn Standard Gold Standard Review with Tommy Z
https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
Gold Standard is a fantastic addition to the original Penn Standard PA Broadleaf series, and then some. Gold Standard is a bold name.... but walks the walk. If you like Connecticut shade but also like some character and oomph in your cigars - more medium-bodied than mild - this blend will impress. Hailing from Raymond Pages and his Tabacalera Pages factory, Penn Standard Gold is draped in a grade-A Connecticut Ecuador wrapper and it is positively gorgeous. Seamless and beautiful with a golden color, slightly oily sheen, and attractive toothiness. A roll between the thumb and forefinger tells you this lovely stick is going to be a treat.
Light it up and you have excellent combustion and smooth draw, and a firm white ash that holds for a solid inch plus. Off the bat there are pronounced floral notes and undertones of bread and toast with an almost latte-like flavor. Then spice becomes more prominent along with notes of ginger, earth, and cream of wheat. By the midway point the spice remains but there's an added salty component and the complexity starts to show itself, as the flavor and strength continues building. By the final third there are soft notes of cedar which marry well with the spice and floral component. Overall, Gold Standard is more on the medium side of mild-medium in strength, yet stays very very smooth and well-balanced throughout.
In addition to the Connecticut seed Ecuador wrapper, the long filler blend includes five-year aged Pennsylvania and Nicaraguan tobaccos. An exceptional choice for those that don't want a full-bodied powerhouse in strength but don't want to sacrifice rich and complex flavors.
Our staff compares Gold Standard favorably to Charter Oak Connecticut, AJ Fernandez San Lotano Connecticut, Oliva Connecticut Reserve, Joya de Nicaragua Antano Connecticut, and My Father Connecticut.

Rocky Patel Black Swan Review with Tommy Z
https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
A Black Swan event is an extreme rarity, and the Black Swan series of cigars is designed to take advantage of unique tobaccos at a given factory. It's the fruit of our team on the ground in Nicaragua. We're always seeking out unique tobaccos in bodegas that have yet to find their way into a cigar. In its simplest form, tobacco is a commodity and factories either grow and/or purchase materials in large lots to get what they need to maintain consistency in their iconic blends and brands. The result of this pattern means there are inevitably unique, small batch tobaccos lumped in that are too small to make a full-time production blend, and such tobaccos are typically stored away for aging. They may emerge for special limited edition projects or they may accumulate, depending on the factory. Black Swan is so named to take advantage of these exceptional but limited tobacco lots.
Finally landed here at Cigar Page HQ is the newest Black Swan - this one from Rocky Patel - building on the success of the Oliva Black Swan. Rocky enters the ring with a notable offering and what makes it special, as if often the case, is the wrapper. This is a coffee bean-brown Corojo leaf that's oozing with oils and tooth galore. It's Honduran Corojo from the Jamastran Valley and it is the highest-grade shade grown wrapper in Honduras. This leaf secures an aged mixture of Nicaraguan and Honduran long-fillers, and all told the recipe brings in a medium-strength smoke that saturates the palate with bright but smooth flavors. A veritable Neapolitan combo of vanilla, chocolate, and fruit undergirds the smoke throughout the burn, with a flavor profile that's as complex as it gets. Layer after layer of flavors, including notes of honey, bread, nuts, and pepper with a nuanced finish, lending exceptional balance to the blend. I think you'll like this.

Florida Man Review with Tommy Z
Shop Here: https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
Raymond Pages is the best young tobacco man we've seen since discovering AJ Fernandez in a small bodega back in 2008. Which is fitting, as Raymond (AJ's brother in law), immigrated from Cuba to Nicaragua and became his protege and top blender. Flash forward several years and today Raymond runs the Tabacalera Pages factory. He is already no doubt one of the most talented cigar makers in Esteli. Florida Man is among his finest, a smooth-as-silk, elegant, and refined masterpiece that hits all the marks. Packaging wise, Florida Man bands are beautiful, an homage to Ernest Hemingway's 'The Old Man and The Sea' with gorgeous matching boxes, and the size names nod to Papa's life and time spent in Key West.
The cigar itself is the real story. Florida Man is crafted with a lovely Connecticut wrapper that's oozing with a golden sheen, buttery smooth looking with some fine veins. Like all Raymond-made blends, it brings flawless construction including an ash that stays solid damn near halfway through the smoke. Almost medium-bodied, it's on the medium side of mild to medium for sure, with enough oomph to stay extremely interesting but without the slight bitterness often associated with Connecticut Shade. There is some nice spice on the lips and touch of pepper that you may not expect along with a pronounced floral note. Very interesting, complex, refined, pepper and some creaminess, with nuanced notes that ebb and flow from head to foot. This beautiful baby burns slowly and deliberately, making for a pleasing, full hour long ride perfect any time of day.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Florida Man favorably to Perdomo Champagne, Arturo Fuente, CAO Gold, Cohiba Connecticut, and Ave Maria Immaculata in terms of cost and flavor profile.
