Medical personnel joined a protest held by the National Public Service Workers Union (NPSWU) to the Provincial Legislature calling for the department of Health to seize its termination of employment contracts at Brackengate Hospital, also known as Brackengate Hospital of Hope. The temporary field hospital was commissioned during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic to provide extra beds for Covid-19 patients.

South Africa - Cape Town - 1 March 2023 - A candlelight vigil was held on Hout Bay beach by the community of Hangberg for German tourist, Nick Frischke, who went missing on a hiking trail two weeks ago. While Nick's family remains optimistic, hope that the 22-year-old will be found alive is fading fast after three of the five men arrested for being in possession of items belonging to him, confessed to robbing and stabbing him.
