No gas stoves, no gas-powered cars, and no beer are just a few things the Biden Administration has put the kibosh on. The White House is now leading Americans into believingcars are the leading cause of climate change, promote racism, and should, therefore, be banned.This comes from Pete Buttigieg and a new group of experts he's put together. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appointed an Obama-era group made up of 24 leading experts to advise him on transportation equity, claiming theprivilegeof owning a car ignites systemic racism and should be banned because of their negative impact on the environment.Mind you, these people are not at all engaged in the automotive business nor understand the freedom connected with your car. Or maybe they do understand the freedom and want control. Members of the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity include spatial policy scholar Andrea Marpillero-Colomina, whosays, "All cars are bad" andcallsfor "zero emission transit." However, she told the Free Beacon that she is not "advocating for a complete erasure" of cars but hopes to convince Buttigieg to re-direct the U.S. from relying on private motor vehicles like Uber and mass transit. Veronica Davis alsoclaimedcars are the "problem" and divide communities because, according to her, vehicles are a "status symbol" that only privileged white people own. Quote: "This isn't anti-car propaganda, but vehicles have wreaked havoc on the environment and communities," Davis said, according to her book aboutinclusive transportation. "Racism shaped the urban and suburban areas, where even today we see the residual effects." She prefers 15-minute cities -- we covered that in a this video (POINT). Scrapped by the Trump Administration, the committee will advise Buttigieg on "promising practices to institutionalize equity into agency programs, policies, regulations, and activities." In 2021, President Joe Biden issued an executive order that required federal agencies to "pursue a comprehensive approach to advancing equity for all." The agency reportedly has to conduct an "equity assessment" to identify policies that create "systemic barriers" for minority communities. In January, Buttigieg promoted a climate plan to reduce "commuting miles" through an "increase in remote work and virtual engagements... The pandemic has highlighted major opportunities for telework, with some studies showing the possibility of ten percent long-term reduction in annual vehicle miles traveled," the plan states. Along with several other things, the Biden Administration has advocated for Americans to purchase electric vehicles to push their radical New Green Deal. Sales of electric cars has not gone as planned. The product is great, the infrastructure for charging has turned buyers off. Even Pete Buttigieg has stated this recently. I say consumers should have the choice to drive what ever they want that meets their needs whether it be electric cars, plug in hybrids, hybrid, gas or diesel. #uaw Update - Will The Strike Impact New and Used Car Prices? Who will benefit? Lauren Fix Explains More plants striking on noon on Friday. Which plants? No one is sure but there is some clues of possible strike targets might be found in locations where UAW locals have announced they will hold rallies and practice picketing in the coming days. Those include a Ford plant in Louisville, Kentucky, a GM plant in Bedford, Indiana, and a GM truck plant in Arlington, Texas. The layoffs that GM and Stellantis announced Wednesday will be in Kansas, Ohio and Indiana. GM said that the UAW strike at its assembly plant near St. Louis caused it to idle a plant in Kansas with about 2,000 workers because “there is no work available” — the plant depends on parts stamped in the St. Louis-area facility. GM said it does not expect to restart the Kansas plant until the strike ends. Stellantis, which makes Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge vehicles, said it expects to lay off more than 300 workers in Ohio and Indiana because “storage constraints” caused by the UAW strike at its assembly plant in Toledo, Ohio. 190 UAW members walked off the job at ZF, a Mercedes supplier in Alabama, over wages, a lower scale for new workers, and health care benefits. The UAW wants to increase that significantly while the automakers want to try and keep a lid on any increase, Also, it’s important to note that this does not include temporary workers who earn far less than those who are full time. It’s Day 5 of the UAW strike and it sure looks like it’s going to ratchet up even more. UAW President Shawn Fain says he’s going to ask more union locals to stand up and walk out by noon this Friday unless the Detroit automakers meet the union’s demands. That means automakers will likely lay off more workers at plants that are not on strike, but can’t get the parts they need from the ones that are on strike. Fain accuses the automakers of using layoffs to intimidate his members. But it seems unrealistic for the car companies to keep plants open when they can’t get parts to make anything. LAID OFF WORKERS TO GET UAW STRIKE MONEY So, what happens to those laid off workers? They can file for state unemployment, if their state will pay for workers who are idled because of a strike. Michigan, for example, will pay unemployment to laid off workers for 14 to 20 weeks. We estimate that a full-time traditional UAW worker would probably qualify for about $650 a week in unemployment, while a temp worker may get around $450. Fain says the union will pay about $500 a week to those workers from its strike fund, which will get them to about 80% of their take home pay. Under the old contract, the automakers were required to pay Supplemental Unemployment Benefits to laid off workers. But since that contract has expired the car companies won’t be paying any SUB benefits, which is why the union needs to divert some of its strike pay to laid off workers. The UAW strike shows no sign of slowing down, but now GM and Ford are sort of turning the tables on the union. The UAW went on strike at part of Ford’s Wayne assembly plant, so Ford laid off the rest of the 600 workers at the plant who were not on strike. And GM laid off 2,000 workers at its Fairfax plant that makes the Cadillac XT4 and Chevrolet Malibu. That’s because the union shut down the Wentzville plant that makes the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, but it also makes stampings for the Fairfax plant. We’re likely going to see more if the union expands its strike to other plants. It makes no sense for the car companies to keep plants open if they can’t get the parts they need. And this also puts pressure on the union because if it strikes more plants, more of its members are going to get laid off. One of the union’s demands in a new contract is to slash that 8-year transition to only 90 days. The automakers are offering to cut it to 4 years. The stakes are high as a new UAW president fights for a self-described 'audacious and ambitious' list of demands from Ford, General Motors and Stellantis. UAW President, Shawn Fain and Bernie Sanders spoke at a rally for the UAW in Detroit Friday. Union supporters then took to the streets to march past the GM Renaissance Center and back to the UAW-Ford Joint Trusts Center. Workers want a raise and more benefits. The UAW has also criticized President Joe Biden’s efforts to promote electric vehicles. This will reduce the work force by 40% if manufacturers produce only electric cars. All of this while battery plants are built in non-union states. Automotive suppliers at every tier are playing the waiting game as the UAW strike against the Detroit 3 automakers unfolds, preparing for potential layoffs should it be a prolonged work stoppage. Dealers across the country are putting contingency plans into action now that production has stopped at three vehicle assembly plants amid the UAW launching a historic strike against all 3 Detroit automakers early Friday. A 10-day strike could cost the economy $5.6 billion. If the strike lasted only a few days, the three automakers might not struggle too much, given all have inventories that could last about two months —and much longer for some models.At the start of the pandemic, automakersfaced supply-chain constraints, particularly with computer chips, that hindered vehicle production. Despite a lack of inventory, industry profits skyrocketed, even though 2022 was the worst year for sales for the auto industry in over a decade. Bloomberg reported that these wage increases and other changes could amount to over $80 billion in additional expenses for each company over four years. Other companies that heavily rely on these automakers, such as auto-parts makers, which get as much as one-third of their revenue from these three companies, are also expected to see major drops in earnings in the event of a strike. The strike could seep into politics as campaigning picks up for the 2024 presidential election. Key swing states such as Michigan and Wisconsin would likely take large economic hits from the strike. The United Auto Workers (UAW) strike at the US's three major unionized automakers, and a walkout could cost the economy billions. A 10-day strike could cost the economy $5.6 billion and hurt Biden in the election. A strike by the United Auto Workers union against Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis — which started Friday, September 15, 2021 — could damage the economy and drive up inflation, the economic-consulting firm Anderson Economic Group said in August. A 10-day strike of over 143,000 workers could reduce the nation's gross domestic product by $5.6 billion, AEG found, which could push Michigan into a recession. Nearly $1 billion of this total would come directly from company losses, while another $859 million would be lost from worker pay, AEG estimated. The industry overall would lose over $3.5 billion, AEG projected. The automotive industry makes up about 3% of US GDP. United Auto Workers are demanding DOUBLE-DIGIT PAY RAISES, RESTORE COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENTS, RE-ESTABLISH RETIREE MEDICAL BENEFITS, MORE PAID TIME OFF, and to work 32 hours and get paid for 40 hours. All of this is a $40,000 increase in pay per worker. This is impossible for any company to sustain this type of increase. Could gas prices get any higher? Yes, they can and it is expected that gas and diesel prices will continue to increase. Federal officials are looking for ways to reduce pain at the pump as gas and diesel prices continue to soar. As Americans get ready for a busy July 4th and summer vacation travel, all drivers need some relief at the pump. President Biden has asked Congress to place a 3-month pause on the federal gasoline and diesel taxes.The 18.4-cent federal gas tax, which helps fund infrastructure work, could be dropped if congress votes to approve it. This money is just a small amount of what consumers pay for a gallon of gas and that is often eclipsed by state gas taxes which are typically much higher. This 3-month pause would also reduce diesel by 24.4-cent per gallon. Even if both taxes are dropped, gasoline prices will not dip below $4 per gallon. Congressmen on both sides are not likely to agree on this and reject the White House effort to suspend the federal gasoline tax. Why would they do this to us? But there is more to this than what’s on the surface. Even if you don’t own a gasoline powered vehicle, you are going to pay the price as goods are constantly being transported by gas powered vehicles. Everything’s about to get more expensive. 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison Goes Where the Buffalo Roam AEV helps Chevy tweak its off-road specialist full-size pickup, and we have all the specs and details. If there's one thing that pickup owners are constantly clamoring for, it's more. More horsepower, more tire, or more capability. Chevrolet is listening, and has fiddled with its Silverado 1500 ZR2 accordingly, expanding on a partnership with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison features a host of upgrades that go above and beyond the already immensely capable Silverado 1500 ZR2. It has robust bumpers, complete underbody protection, impressive off-road suspension, loads of engine power, and so much more. Five skid plates cover the front and rear differentials, the fuel tank, and the transfer case. Also included is a front bash plate behind the bumper. AEV currently offers kits to fit both 33-inch and 35-inch tires on the Colorado ZR2 Bison. Under the hood is GM's proven 6.2-liter V-8 engine, which pumps out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The truck features a lifted suspension with wider control arms and impressive 40-mm Multimatic DSSV dampers while boasting 9.84 inches of front wheel travel with 10.62 inches in the rear. Front and rear electronic locking differentials are standard. The truck's interior is filled with the most premium elements in the class, complete with standard 13.4-inch color touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. Bison also retains ZR2's exclusive Jet Black and Greystone leather interior scheme. The 2024 Acura Integra Type S delivers a powerful driving experience. It's equipped with a 200-HP VTEC Type S heightens the thrill of driving even more with 320-HP and 310 lb-ft of torque mated to a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. The most powerful Integra ever also offers Sport+ drive mode for performance you can feel. The 2024 Acura Integra Type S is much wider than the standard Integra, its integrated flared fenders have larger tires tucked underneath. The 19-inch wheels are wrapped in 265/30R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires offering more grip and are inspired by the 10-spoke rims offered on the NSX Type S supercar. Inside, the Type S offers front seats with a bit of extra bolstering that are trimmed in a leather and suede upholstery combination available in either red, black, or white. There are some features that aren't available on the Civic Type R, such as a head-up display and a 16-speaker ELS audio system. The front seats are heated, and the driver's seat is power-adjustable and has an adjustable lumbar support. The Type S gives up its center rear seating position, meaning it's a four-seater.
