Patricia O’Conner is the patron saint of Grammar Nazis.

I work as a copywriter and I’ll admit, I can be a stickler for grammar. At times, maybe a little too much.

Which is why I think her book “Woe Is I” is indispensable. You could even call it this generation’s “The Elements Of Style”.

English is a hot stew of different dialects and every year, more words get added to the lexicon, so it’s important to keep yourself updated on what’s right before you write.

It’s a really engaging and funny book but don’t expect to find difficult and often boring rules of grammar explained within its pages.

This is more of a ready reckoner for people who want to speak better English and write easy to understand prose that is clear and that gets its point across to any audience.

I will be making a full length video where I’ll review this book and talk about its utility, but if you’re in the language game, I highly recommend this book.
