A separation in the "6 pack" muscles (rectus abdominus) is common after and during pregnancy, straining, and gaining a lot of weight in the belly and can occur in both men and women.
While this condition isn't usually painful, it is annoying! This separation makes it difficult to support the spine and move they way you used to. Not to mention is makes the abs look like they are "pooching" out!
This video goes over how to check for a diastasis recti on your own, the exercises you need to start doing right away, and exercises that need to be modified or taken out to prevent making the diastasis worse.
