Some backstory on the last comment - my smartest top technician is Serbian, and is frequently given jobs where he must come up with some macguyver'd way of making a device work due to severe time & cost restraints.

He always succeeds. As such, whenever we do some off the wall nonsense to get a job done, we pay homage to him & his homeland.

So this dude comes in and needs his stuff transferred from a totally dead laptop to a new one. He's flying out and gives us a time limit of 45 minutes to do this, from the moment he stepped in. if we can't complete it in time, he will lose his opportunity to swap the laptop for a new one at the store before he flies out and he will lose all of his data.

He demands apps and everything. He comes during the busiest day of the holiday season which is the busiest time of the year.. great. The back office desk is full, the front 16 ft tech bench is full, and all of my shelves are full. We have a record 169 open tickets.. so this is what I pulled out of my ass to make this possible within the 45 minute timeframe. I have only one USB 3 caddy available since the rest are all chomping away on other machines. There's no space, no time, and to transfer a near full SSD in a half hour, this is going to have to do.

We have a reputation for the best turnaround in the area... here is one way we make that possible. I debated whether to burn the sdcard with this on it out of embarrassment or to upload it for comic relief. I'm glad I kept it, it's a comical reminder that the practical solution is often superior to the the bureaucratically/professionally correct one.
