Hotline Miami is about Peace

Through it’s tormented characters, smart pacing, and heart wrenching conclusions, Hotline Miami shows us the consequences of getting involved in the criminal underbelly, the consequences of having violence be your only reprieve from mundanity. One characters involvement in organized crime ultimately ends in his girlfriend taking his money and her running off, her justification that she can’t trust him and that he would do the same because of his selfish and brutal pursuits. There is a very real, and considered understanding of the ripple effects these things have on all of us, it’s told pretty greatly.

The Hotline Miami series is more than just a couple of fun indie games, they're competently made criticisms of revenge and indirect advocates for peace.
