Bark Grafting Fruit Trees

Bark Grafting Fruit Trees.
Today we are trying our hand at Bark Grafting a persimmon tree. This is our first time trying this and I would like to say that I am by no means an expert. This technique should work for grafting fruit trees and by that, I mean most fruit trees.
I am wanting to share my experience so that it might inspire some of you to try it as well. It was much easier than I thought it would be but now I just have to wait to see if the graft takes.
In order to graft, you need two things. You need something to graft onto, which they call a rootstock, and you need the grafting material which is called a Scion wood. Scion wood is the first thing you need. It will be harvested in the dormant season, which is winter. When all the sap is in the roots. I personally bought this scion wood that I am using in this video. The reason is they have characteristics that I wanted to change this persimmon tree into. I also have harvested my own scion wood from some persimmon trees about 20 mins away on some family land. The next thing is the rootstock. I am using an already grown tree. I picked this tree because it has a bad limb structure. It is also a male persimmon tree that will not produce fruit. You can graft a female scion onto a male tree and it will produce fruit. That is the goal anyway. Follow along on this series to see how the outcome comes to fruition (no pun intended :))

Here are a few channels that I have followed to learn this process:

NativNurseries https://youtu.be/Ryf0248Od60

There are more that I have watched over the years but I can't remember them. If I think of them or run across them again, I will be sure to credit them here. I think it is always best to credit those you learn from for sharing their ideas. Some things I come up with on my own but were inspired by others. Most ideas that we have were inspired by someone or something.
