Treasury Warns Social Security will be Depleted in 12 Years

Every year, the trustees of the Social Security trust fund are required to produce a report that projects the 'health' of the trust fund. This year, the timeline until the trust fund is completely empty has been revised lower by one year, leaving only 12 years left for the fund. This leaves policy makers in a tricky situation, seemingly with political suicide as their only option.
