QRM - How does Wifi and ethernet affect Amateur radio reception?

How much does QRM (local radio interference) affect radio reception on different bands and what can we do to improve the situation? If we can minimise QRM, then we can pick up weaker stations and hear others more clearly to log those hard-to-get contacts.
