Dawu Coast Park 大武濱海公園 is located at the south end of Taitung County at the 420 km mark of the Provincial Highway No. 9. It is an outlook to view the Pacific Ocean and the towering Central Mountain Range in the other direction. Across from Dawu Coast Park on Provincial Highway No. 9, there is a row of colorful buildings called the Dawu Rainbow Village 大武彩虹村. Typhoon Morakot in 2009 destroyed the Fushan Tribal Village, and the villagers were forced to move to Dawu Village at the foot of the mountain to establish a new residence. The villagers transformed this row of houses’ dull exterior walls into the bright rainbow-colored design it is today with the sponsorship of a world renewed paint company (Caparol).
