High wind day, discussing desensitisation of horses in daily life and Cleo's condition.

What better way to get horses used to flapping tarpaulins than to cover their feed with one?
The horses don't pay any attention to the flapping tarpaulin. I believe in putting is natural ways of desensitising the horses with flapping plastic, motor bikes, machinery and so on. If you keep their environment rich and are a strong herd leader, they learn not to fear many of the human occurrences that represent no threat to them.
It's hard to hear me with the wind.

Cleo has lost weight and we're busily feeding her up again, as well as Ruby, Banjo, Penny and Arthur.
Ava and Halo lost weight, but they stayed in a healthy range.

This was due to not being able to bring in feed for 2 weeks. The young herd got hay every day and small feeds of hard feed.

The older horses got massive hard feeds - they had access to adlib hard feed and hay daily.
We are getting bath tubs set up to feed the horses. This way their feed buckets won't blow around the place and I can get their feed and hay up off the ground.
