Dr. Fiona-Jane Brown, folklorist, educator and storyteller, began Hidden Aberdeen Tours as a response to the deep concern of locals about the increasing industrial and business development situation in the city - the real fear that Aberdeen's history will be lost forever, and that there is no civic pride left in the once lauded 'Silver City with the Golden Sands'. Fortunately there is enough left of our built history in order to tell the stories of the past and re-ignite passion for local culture. Her passion for local history has now found its ideal outlet with this venture.

Dr Brown holds a PhD in Ethnology, gained in 2010 from the University of Aberdeen. Previous to this she worked as the Force Curator for Grampian Police; Project Officer for the Formartine Oral History Project and from 1999 to 2006, an information technology instructor at Aberdeen College.
