The greenhouse effect and the implications of doubling CO2 are examined. The greenhouse effect is shown to be an internal mechanism of heat transfer with no net effect on the heat contained by the atmosphere or the average surface temperature. Methane has no effect on surface temperature, water vapor absorbs the same wavelengths of radiation from the ground.
