Psychedelic (R)evolution! Waorani Update, Our First Visit

We just returned from a few days on the edge of the civilized world in a sort of Waorani outpost. Over the edge, by a few kilometers, at least. There was electricity, but no plumbing, no internet. We ate a lot of bugs, and plants from the jungle. There was a monkey in the house one morning. Right next to an absurdly out of place and horrifyingly poignant, gigantic, wide-screen TV. This convergence of the modern world and traditional life has not yet found homeostasis, and it was at this crossroads we would meet our fundamental lesson.
Although not exactly what were expecting, it was exactly what we needed to see, as I will explain in tonight's livestream. The Waorani, Shuar, and a few other tribes of the Amazon are still deeply connected to their ancestral roots, and have a connection with the jungle that has to be witnessed firsthand in order to be understood. But, the outside world is encroaching further and further, and with it come new temptations, and pressures to conform to the modern paradigm. Environmental changes also threaten to eliminate the possibility of living traditionally, as pollution, overfishing, and other resource destroying influences spread. Join us in the fight. Together, we can, and will, have an impact.
