Will this $5 VCR Play a 25 year old tape???

I purchased this VCR for $4.99 at a local Goodwill. I went to two others thrift store and this was the first and only one I could find. I have a box of VHS racing tapes I want to convert to upload here on youtube. The tapes themselves have been in a box in my parents garage for 20 plus years so no telling what shape they will be in to work with. Will it work or am I SOL?
