Louie Simmons is The Godfather of Powerlifting. Out of a single one room gym in Columbus Ohio, he produced many of the strongest lifters in the world and he did it for free. Louie invented the reverse hyper machine that is now a part of every serious weight room and that’s what paid the bills.

Chris and Mark started reading Louie Simmons articles In Powerlifting USA and followed all of his unorthodox methods. Later Mark moved to Columbus and Louie took him under his wing. Not only did Mark follow in his footsteps with a free gym, Mark followed Louie’s inspiration in creating the Slingshot.

Louie appeared in Bigger Stronger Faster* because he was such a big influence on us and together we all helped put powerlifting on the map.
