The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC. Chakra, also spelled Cakra (meaning "wheel") is associated with Hinduism and the Ayurvedic traditions. Chakra refers to the core energy centers within our body and are located along the backbone stretching from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. While there are more than 7 Chakras, this meditation is centered around the 7 main chakras and their characteristics with a physical, emotional, creative, and spiritual component.

7 Major Chakras Overview
There are SEVEN main chakras stretching from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Their names, locations and corresponding chakra colors are:

Root chakra — base of the spine — red
Sacral chakra — just below the navel — orange
Solar Plexus chakra — stomach area — yellow
Heart chakra — center of the chest — green
Throat chakra — base of the throat — blue
Third Eye chakra — forehead, above between the eyes — indigo
Crown chakra — top of the head — violet
