Jelani Day, an Illinois State University graduate student had been missing since Aug. 24. Jelani was who was studying to be a doctor, was living and going to school in Bloomington, Illinois.

Jelani was last seen at a cannabis dispensary near campus in Bloomington on Aug. 24. 

Two days after his disappearance, his car was found in Peru, a small city an hour north of Bloomington. The white Chrysler 300 was spotted in "a wooded area south of the Illinois Valley YMCA," police said. Inside the car were the clothes Day had been wearing when he was last seen.
Nine days after Day's car was found, authorities discovered his body in the Illinois River, where the coroner used dental records and DNA analysis to identify his body.

At this point, authorities have not named any suspects in this case.
