Luke 9:27-36 “Are You Being Conformed or Transformed?”

So, Jesus leads Peter, James, and John up the mountain to pray.
And that is where our transformation begins…by praying and asking Jesus to forgive our sins and be our Lord and Savior.
But we must understand that our transformation does not end there.
We are continually being transformed into the image of Christ.
And the way we are continually transformed is by being in His presence in prayer and in His Word.
If you sense that you are being conformed and not transformed…maybe it is because you aren’t spending enough time in the presence of our Lord.
Maybe you have drifted away from Jesus…it may have happened little by little…but one day you woke up and felt you had drifted away.
Notice Jesus takes only three of the twelve…that tells us there is a level of relationship we can have with Jesus….
There were the three (Peter, James, and John) they were the closest to Jesus…they were always in His presence.
Then there were the other nine, close to Jesus, but not on the same level as the three.
Then there is the 70…they knew Jesus, they experienced Jesus, they spent time with Jesus…
But they weren’t in His presence daily so they weren’t as close to Jesus as they could be.
And then there are the 120…again, they knew Jesus, but their relationship with Him was more of a long-distance relationship…
You know, the kind of relationship where you only see and talk to each other occasionally.
Why are there different level s of followers?
I believe the key to the level of our relationship with Jesus is based on the level of the desire we have to be in His presence.
The less desire you have to spend time with Him…the further outside the circle you move.
