Marines Conduct Airfield Seizure Exercise

October 5, 2021 - U.S. Marines with 2d Battalion, 3d Marines, 3d Marine Division, conduct an air assault on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan. 2/3 secured the airfield allowing Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 172, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing to establish a forward arming and refueling point, enabling sustained aviation in support of Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations.
