Box Truck Fails to Yield, Collision/Rollover Ensues, GOODRICH, March 28, 2022 - At approximately 3:45 pm on March 28, 2022, a white 2002 Chevy 3500 pickup (pulling a loaded trailer) driven by Lance Hayden Malone, 28, of Tomball, was south-bound on US-59. As Malone was about to pass the north end of Loop 393, a large box truck, driven by Eric Cuellar, 31, of Houston, pulled off of 393 and directly in front of Malone's pickup. Malone's pickup slammed into the back of Cuellar's box truck. The collision sent Cuellar off the pavement to the right. The box truck turned over, rolled through a traffic sign, and came to rest on its driver's side facing north. Malone's vehicle left the pavement to the left and came to rest in the center median. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Ramey Bass and Trooper Chris Cain with the Texas Highway Patrol. Cuellar had cuts on his head from the accident but climbed out of his vehicle. Malone was physically okay. Traffic on 59 was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Cuellar was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic. He was also transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. Both vehicles were recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
