Remembering Delma Cowart, the man who dug swimming pools for a living and raced cars for fun. The man who once said "I never won a race, but I never lost a party". While Cowart's career statistics are less than memorable (61 DNQs with 21 starts) people remember the "Clown Prince" for his personality. The man who once traded a swimming pool for a Junior Johnson and Associates Engine was never a threat, but got lucky here and there. Specifically in 1992. During the Duel 125, Cowart managed against all odds to race his way into the Daytona 500. Cowart left racing in 1998 after costs became to great for his small operation. Cowart's passing was announced by his daughter on November 10th, 2021.
Rest in Peace Delma.
