Bush Eucharist - November 7, 2021

It was good to have Emma McArthur with us again for our Bush Eucharist. As ever, she injected both passion and wisdom into our discussion of the readings. I also asked Emma to share a little about her work, fighting discrimination towards unvaccinated people in Adelaide, where she says her Bishop is talking about starting separate church services for unvaccinated people!

Our reading from Ruth (3:1-5; 4:13-17) concludes our two-week sojourn in this short and powerful narrative. It is a tragic story, but it is also a story of the struggle and triumph of two vulnerable women. From the broader Biblical angle, it is a story about how God incorporates all sorts of people in the great work of the renewal of the world. God chooses, not only powerless women, but a woman from a despised racial minority, to be one of Israel's great maternal icons.
