Had a few minutes and wanted to grab a view of the sunset with all of the smoke in the air from the wildfires out near Medina Lake, NW of San Antonio. As of the date we're publishing this, Saturday, March 26, 2022, the fires had burned over 800 acres of land. Multiple volunteer fire departments are combating the blaze.

By the way, you can't legally fly a drone near a wildfire, without special permission from the authorities at least. This flight was nearly 60 miles away from the fires. I was also able to see the smoke from way over in New Braunfels, Texas, over on IH-35, northeast of San Antonio.

The drone used tonight, was the DJI FPV Racer drone. It's designed to be flown while wearing goggles and can reach up to nearly 90mph in speed when in full acrobatic manual mode. In Sports mode, speed is limited to about 65mph. It wasn't designed to just hover in the air a few hundred feet above the hill, like we used it for. The camera is also not optimized for low light conditions, but it did pretty good, all factors considered.
