🔴 US Military Troops from 27 countries and about 25,000 personnel Heading to the Pacific Ocean

The Navy will finalize plans for the next Exercise RIMPAC.

The US Navy and 26 partners and allies have completed the final planning meeting for the exercise RIMPAC, the largest international maritime exercise of the year.

The biennial RIMPAC exercise was reduced in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. This event is intended to convene the #Navy and Armed Forces of the Pacific region and others interested in activities in the region. This includes anti-submarine warfare exercises, #amphibious operations, humanitarian training, missile shooting, ground force training, and more, with a focus on interoperability between units that may cooperate in the future.

The #US Third Fleet hosted a final planning meeting this week at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, with approximately 1,000 personnel from 27 countries reviewing the exercise plan.

"This conference is one of the last steps to make this exercise a reality, and it's a great opportunity for participants to see where we all work in July," said RIMPAC Coordinator, Royal Australian Navy. .. James Dobson said in a US Navy news release. "The level of teamwork, planning and cooperation between the participants is excellent and ensures that this exercise is carried out safely and professionally."

Exercises take place in and around Hawaii in July and August.

The 2020 iteration was limited to maritime events, but 2018 included extensive onshore training in Hawaii, harbor meetings and cultural exchanges in Pearl Harbor. The 2018 exercise also included a portion of Southern California to attract additional participants from Latin American countries facing the Pacific Ocean.

The news release states that the 2022 iteration looks like 2018 in size and scale, but COVID-19 mitigation measures are in place.

Plans are subject to change, but include 41 ships, 4 submarines, more than 170 aircraft, and approximately 25,000 personnel from 27 countries.

"To do such a large exercise, everyone needs to be on the same page. That's what we've achieved here this week," said Christopher Robinson, Deputy Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, Deputy Commander of the RIMPAC 2022 Joint Task Force. The official said in a news release. "It's really exciting to see all the leaders and staff from these participating countries come together like this."
