The killer punch! British Galal Yafai Historic First Olympic Gold Medal in Boxing!

Olympics! Great Britain’s Galal Yafai an Olympic gold medalist, taking the men’s flyweight final bout over the Philippines’ Carlo Paalam.Yafai a 28 yrs old gained a 4-1 points decision at the Kokugiran Arena in Japan Olympics 2020

For this win of Yafai gives Great Britain its first boxing gold medal at Tokyo 2020 denying the Philippines first boxing gold medal in the Olympics. The Filipino team overall showed great talent in Tokyo, though, with two silver medals and a bronze.

In a thrilling start, the Briton surprisingly knocked Carlo Paalam down after only 90 seconds on his way to victory.

First round was favourable to Yafai. Paalam won the third round on all five judges' cards.However Yafai gained a 29-28 BP victory on four of the cards with the other card favour to Paalam. A historical win for Galal Yafai.

Whos is Galal Yafai?
Galal Yafai (born 11 December 1992) is a 28-year-old and 5-foot-7 British boxer, born of Yemeni parents. While representing England in the light-flyweight division, he won a silver medal at the 2017 European Championships and gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and bronze while representing Great Britain in the flyweight division at the 2019 European Games. He also competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

At the 2016 European Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Samsun, Turkey, Yafai defeated Samuel Carmona Heredia of Spain by unanimous decision in his semifinal to secure his place in the 2016 Olympic.[3][4] He won his round of 32 fight defeating Simplice Fotsala of Cameroon. He lost his Round of 16 fight to Joahnys Argilagos of Cuba.

In May 2019, Yafai was selected to compete at the 2019 European Games in Minsk, Belarus.[5] He also competed at the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg, Russia, where he lost by unanimous decision to Billal Bennama in the quarter-finals.

He has qualified to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where he has advanced to the gold medal match in the flyweight division.
He is the younger brother of boxers Kal Yafai and Gamal Yafai.
