1)Communication.... Ensure that the agent that you are looking to hire has great communication skills. They will need to have great communication with all parties involved in order to help facilitate a smooth transaction. If they dont have great communication off the start, I would find someone who does.

2) Make sure you have chemistry with the agent and their personality fits. You will be spending a lot of time together so finding an agent that is a great fit personality wise along with the rest of these tips will make your experience wonderful.

3)Experience- Make sure they have the experience to get the job done! Experience and intelligence is important as an agent to work through problems and potential hurdles in often happen in a transaction.

4)Do they Know The Area? - Make sure the agent knows the area well, schools, lifestyle, what homes are selling for, and market conditions.

5)Check References - Always check references and reviews of the agent or agents to make sure they have done a great job in the past to include recent reviews.

6)Check the data and sources they are using - Data is king in the world now and is easily available with many sources. Make sure that the agent can show you the data and analytics.

7)Make sure they aren't pushy - No one likes a pushy agent, and a home purchase shouldn't be forced. Make sure the agent is understanding of your needs, takes the time to understand them, and puts the time in the find the right home for you.

8)Make sure they are available - No matter what, they need to be available when you are or have a team that is available.

9)Make sure they are organized and have a team/organization of people to help facilitate a smooth transaction.

10)Ask about negotiations - They need to be good at negotiating but also know when to play hard ball and when not too. There are different tactics in negotiating and knowing when to use them is a skill. Make sure your agent will be there to help you, not create a road block by strong arming the other side.
