The 15 Laws of Growth... #11 The Law of Trade-Offs by John Maxwell

• YOU HAVE TO GIVE UP TO GO UP

If we want to grow, we’ve got to know what we’re willing to give to get there.

What would you be willing to trade to gain the things you want most?

Better yet, what would you be willing to trade to get where you want to go?

Everything you want is uphill and to take the next step up you must give up something.

Trade Off- Giving up something of value for something of greater value.

1. Your comfort zone
2. Money
3. Time
4. People

To get what you want you have to give up what you have

Closing our restaurant yesterday was one of the hardest things we ever had to do in life.

Are you going through change or are you growing through change?

Trade off got John to where he is more than anything else

John would give up his entire salary to hire the person he really wanted on his team

Telling his wife

John made 7 changes in his life and each one lowered his income initially

“I want to do what you do”

Would you like to do what I did so you can do what I do?

Trade Off: Comfort for Legacy

Creating The Institute of Wholistic Health is the greatest thing we have ever done.

We are certifying people around the world how to make a massive impact on the health of millions of people.

• The 7 Things That Are True About Trade-Offs

1. Trade-offs stand between where you are and where you want to go.
2. *The pain is felt before the gain is realized.*
3. *The higher you climb the tougher the trade-offs*
4. People at the bottom trade-off because of desperation and the people at the top trade-off because of inspiration.
5. A trade-off when you have little is not near as heavy when you have much.
6. Continued trade-offs are a result of seeing the big picture.
7. You become stronger every time you make a trade off.
