Attack On Black Men Ep.#1: Florida Proposes New Bill Alleges "Fatherhood Crisis"

I'm creating a new series tracking the ways politicians are using Black men to drum up White votes in 2022 & 2024 using racist stereotypes and tropes. The name of the series will be called Attack On Black Men. In this episode, I discuss how Florida is creating legislation for a fatherhood crisis despite data showing Black fathers are the most engaged fathers of all racial groups. This is important because they will target Black and biracial boys in schools, juvenile detention centers, and foster care.

No one sees a crisis in White fatherhood and parenting with all the mass school shootings and plots to overthrow governments, but okay.

ADVICE/SOLUTIONS:
Pay attention to your state's politics. If you're in FL, write, call or visit your local representative to complain about this legislation. Pushback against these narratives which work to vilify and demoralize Black men and boys. Watch out for your state to pass similar legislation. Push back. Learn where the existing fatherhood services are in your community and let them know it's a duplication of services. Mentor youth, and help brothers.
