Carl Lentz is Dangerous | My reaction to "Hillsong: a Megachurch Exposed" from Discovery+ Docuseries

What are the Biblical standards of a pastor? Are megachurches real Churches? Should Christians listen to/support hillsong, bethel, or elevation music?

Discovery Plus has caused an eruption in the Christian community when they released the trailer for their new three-part docuseries, "Hillsong: a Megachurch Exposed". It will include interviews with New York Post reporter Hannah Frishberg, former hillsong volunteer Janice Lagata, megachurch expert Ben Kirby, and Ranin Karim, who had an affair with former hillsong pastor Carl Lentz. Originally founded by Brian Houston in Australia, hillsong has become a prominent force in the world with more than 150,000 members worldwide. Now, several former members are stepping forward to share their experiences. The film seeks to examine the popular celebrity "church" and the controversy surrounding it, in particular with their former "pastor" Carl Lentz. Lentz gained major popularity by being the "pastor" of Justin Bieber and other prominent celebrities; however, Lentz has found himself in an arena of sexual immorality, abuse, and cover-ups. This chaotic environment has paved the way for the members to be traumatized, abused, and be exploited. On one hand, I am grateful that this mega "church" is having their corruption exposed; however, I can't help but think about the numerous people who possibly could have had their faith shipwrecked or allowed this scandal to reflect poorly on Christianity. They do not represent Biblical Christianity though and unfortunately, the modern Church has done nothing but support organizations like hillsong, bethel, and elevation. With quotes such as, "hillsong changed the way that many of us saw church" or referring to it as the "cool church", the trailer perfectly captures the majority view of the world. This trailer comes only a couple of months after a previous film put forth by the BBC exposed hillsong and only a couple weeks after the campuses lead pastors in London resigned after 12 years. The true Biblical Church needs to step forward and illustrate what the Biblical standards are for a Church and the leaders. That is what I discuss here.
