Even more frightening, Ukraine shot down Russian warplanes and helicopters

Ukraine was reportedly able to shoot down several Russian warplanes and helicopters it said threatened its territory. It was announced by the Ukrainian Army on Thursday (24 February 2022).

No details were given as to what type of aircraft was shot down and where it was launched. However, Kiev announced it shortly after Russia launched missile attacks on several of its military bases.

Ukrainian forces said in a statement that they had shot down five Russian planes and one helicopter.
