The #Belarus referendum, which rejects neutral status, occurs when Russia is wary of nuclear deterrence during the #Ukraine war.

Belarusian voters have approved a constitutional amendment that will allow the country to host nuclear weapons when the former Soviet Republic became the starting point for Russian troops invading #Ukraine

A Russian news agency quoted on Monday that the Belarusian election commission said that about 65.2 percent of the people who participated in the referendum voted in favor of the change.

According to the authorities, the turnout was 78.63 percent.

The results are not particularly surprising given President Alexander Lukashenko's tightly controlled rules.

It could return nuclear weapons to Belarus' soil for the first time since the country abandoned them after the collapse of the Soviet Union, betting when Lukashenko lags behind Russian President Vladimir Putin's military attack on Ukraine. Raise the money.
