Counseling through the Psalms: Psalms 70 - Lord, I Need You Urgently

Message Exposition: Psalm 70:1-5
1. David’s Cry:
The psalmist prays that God make haste to deliver and help him (Psalm 70:1)
David’s desperation
David’s directness
David pleads with God not to delay
2. David’s Challengers:
The psalmist prays that his enemies be put to shame and confusion (Psalm 70:2-3)
Three prayers:
1. Let them be put to shame
2. Let them be put to confusion
3. Let them turn back because of their shame
3. David’s Concern:
The psalmist is concerned for and prays for other believers (Psalm 70:4)
4. David’s Confession:
The psalmist declares his confidence in God’s help and deliverance (Psalm 70:5)
Summary of Faith: Preaching the Gospel to Himself
Confession of spiritual bankruptcy - “I am poor and needy”
Calling on God as his only Savior - You are my help and my deliverer”
